Sister Wives The Bachelor similar (1)

As an interesting suggestion, some people are speculating that Sister Wives and The Bachelor aren’t that different. While the hit shows feature different lifestyles, after careful thought and consideration, it’s apparent that they have more in common than what meets the eye. Keep reading to find out more about how Sister Wives and The Bachelor are similar.

How are Sister Wives and The Bachelor similar?

Since 2010, TLC has followed polygamist Kody Brown and his four wives for their show Sister Wives. Until recent seasons, the series did well. Now, fans are tired of the same old storylines. One of the storylines is the marital problems between Kody and his first wife, Meri Brown.

Another storyline that viewers feel is played out has to do with the living situation for Kody and his four wives. Back in 2018, the family purchased land in Coyote Pass, Arizona. Until recently, they hadn’t done anything with it. Now that Kody’s second wife, Janelle’s rental home has been sold, she lives in an RV on the property.

Notably, The Bachelor has been on the air for a lot longer than Sister Wives. The Bachelor franchise began in 2002 with Alex Michel. Over several months, the leading man dates multiple women in the pursuit of love. Historically, the show had 25 women in the running for a love with the leading man. Most recently, Matt James’ season had 37 women.

So what does this have to do with Sister Wives?

Besides the obvious that the shows feature one man in relationships with multiple women, there are several similarities between the reality television shows. That’s not to say there aren’t stark differences between Kody Brown’s lifestyle and The Bachelor’s lifestyle. However, both men pursue relationships with multiple women. However, The Bachelor focuses on monogamy.

While the timelines vary, both shows follow the relationship progressions of each man. Consequently, viewers see how things change for Kody and his four wives over 11 years. However, they only see how things develop with The Bachelor over a couple of weeks. Thanks to social media, fans can see what the couple chooses to share after filming The Bachelor wraps.

Next, both lifestyles require a lot of attention. Not only that, but each man has to prioritize his relationships. Consequently, it seems like that’s where some of the strife comes from in these shows. Additionally, jealousy makes for good television.

Notably, jealousy isn’t the only drama these men have to endure. Anyone that watches Sister Wives knows that Kody and his wives argue. The same can be said for nearly all the leading men on The Bachelor. There seems to always be one woman on each season that stirs the pot.
