As Below Deck Med fans know, relationships don’t last in yachting. It’s very rare for couples to stay together. If you want to take your relationship to the next step, you might as well just quit. In Season 6 of Below Deck Mediterranean, bosun Malia White confirmed that Chef Tom Checketts cheated on her.

She has no interest in hooking up with anyone on the yacht. She doesn’t even notice that David Pascoe and Llyod Spencer are into her. She’s busy dealing with enough drama. Alumni Colin Macy-O’Toole and Bobby Giancola shared their thoughts on Malia’s claim that Tom cheated.

What do Bobby and Colin think?

Colin Macy-O’Toole appeared on Seasons 3 and 4 of Below Deck Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Bobby appeared on Seasons 1 and 2. Both Bobby and Colin have moved on from yachting, but are still part of the Below Deck universe. The two talked about Malia and Tom’s split, including the cheating allegations.

Bobby now works as a yacht broker in Florida. Colin returned to his previous job as a ferry boat captain in Long Island. The boys will discuss all the drama during Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 in the new season of Galley Talk. They also sat down for a joint interview with Us Weekly. They shared their thoughts on Malia’s claim that Tom cheated.

“Apparently he cheated on her. Nobody really knows. Obviously, I never got his side. But we would all hang out all the time, and that’s just what happens,” Bobby said. “In the yachting world, which is kind of one of the reasons I wanted to get out of, you just can’t have a relationship unless you’re on the same boat.”

Bobby feels that it’s better to “stay single” while working in yachting. He feels there are too many temptations in the industry, especially when the crew members drink. Working and partying together in close quarters leads to nothing but trouble. Fans remember when Bobby tried to pursue Julia d’Albert Pusey in Season 1.

Below Deck Med alum says stable jobs lead to less drama

The Below Deck Med alum agreed with Bobby. He feels that there are better jobs outside of the industry where there isn’t as much drama. Colin feels that nothing good comes out of boatmances. Most of them start hard and crash harder.

“Yachting, like Bobby, said you’re on top of each other 24/7, essentially,” he continued. “If you are single there’s probably going to be a little more hookup situations.”

In September 2020, Malia confirmed on Instagram that she and Tom split after over a year of dating. At the time, she wanted to keep the details “private.” She recently spoke out about their breakup in a recent episode. Tom tried to win her back, but Malia feels she can’t trust him anymore.

Below Deck Med airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
