‘DWTS’ Pro Emma Slater Discusses Tyra Banks’ On-Stage Performance
All Dancing With The Stars fans have their opinions on Tyra Banks. After ABC made the controversial decision to fire Tom Bergeron and replace him with the world-renowned supermodel, fans expressed their views online. But what do the pro dancers on the show think of Tyra’s performance? Emma Slater recently made her own views clear.
The entire cast and crew had to obey social distancing protocols last season. As a result, Emma didn’t get to spend much time at all with Tyra. However, she admitted that she and her husband and fellow competitor Sasha Farber admired Tyra’s performance anyway.
“I think she did an amazing job,” Emma told Us Weekly. “I really did. … She’s larger than life. She’s absolutely gorgeous. I would have loved to have gotten to know her more on a personal level. Because of COVID we couldn’t, but I think she did a phenomenal job.”
Emma Slater defends Tyra Banks in the face of heavy scrutiny
Many DWTS fans chastised Tyra Banks after the elimination in early Season 29. In case you missed it, Tyra accidentally called the wrong names during the elimination ceremony. After examining the incident, officials determined it was a technical error in the control room. But even so, plenty of fans pointed fingers at Tyra.
But Emma Slater thinks Tyra did the best she could given the circumstances.
“The way that she handled that situation when there was sort of misinformation between her cue cards and the prompter, I actually thought she did a really great job with that,” Emma continued. “That was a difficult situation and not many people could have really handled that, and I think that she did it kind of seamlessly. So … kudos to her. She did a great job.”
The UK native went on to say that she hopes COVID restrictions will be light enough that she can formally meet Tyra and even hang out.
Sasha expressed similar sentiments.
“I think the show did such a great job,” Sasha said. “Like, that’s when COVID was in the midst of it and we were the only show that did a live show in the studio and we managed to do it so safely. The crew were incredible.”
Is everyone coming back for Season 30?
Dancing With The Stars Season 30 comes to ABC on September 20. ABC hasn’t put out a cast list yet, but the network already confirmed Tyra Banks will be back. But we still don’t know which pro dancers will fill out the cast list. Hopefully, Emma Slater and Sasha Farber will both be back. Time will tell.
