Naturally, Hall will return as the title character, under a new moniker, Jim Lindsay. We recently heard that Dexter’s sister, Debra Morgan, played by Jennifer Carpenter, will be returning in some form. This is despite her death at the end of Season 8.

However, we will also get to see several A-list actors in the new season. John Lithgow is returning as the Trinity Killer and Clancy Brown will star as the main villain, Kurt Caldwell. Oscar Wahlberg will play Zach, while Jamie Chung will star at Molly Park. An interesting new addition is Julia Jones, who plays Angela and seems to be Dexter/Jim’s new significant other.

Season 9 in the making

Season 8 had one of the most controversial endings in TV history and fans have been calling for a revival since it ended in 2013. Even Michael has been vocal about bringing back the show. In the interview, Hall said he has been approached, unofficially, many times by people who had ideas for a reboot. However, nothing ever seemed right.

Meanwhile, Michael said that the revival season has a lot to do with the passage of time. He said it is going to happen in real-time, as it has been so long since the finale aired. Hall also said the reboot season was shot like a 10-hour long movie. Clyde Philips is back as a director this time after acting as showrunner for the first four seasons, along with Marcos Siega.

According to our favorite serial killer himself, the revival is a combination of the scripts and timing. He said he always thought the moment would reveal itself when it was the right time and now it’s here.

Readers can watch the panel discussion on Dexter: New Blood at Comic-Con, along with the new tantalizing trailer below.

When will Dexter Season 9 air?

Luckily, fans don’t have too long to wait for the revival season to drop on Showtime. Dexter: New Blood will premiere to much excitement on Sunday, November 7.
