Discovery Channel, Exclusives

Discovery has an exciting new series beginning tonight, Hunting Atlantis, that TV Shows Ace got the exclusive preview to share. Stel Pavlou, an author-turned-historian and researcher, and his geologist partner Jess Phoneix scaled ancient cliffs above the Black Sea.

Rappeling against the cliff, Jess analyzes the striations of the rocks and decides that Stel is on to something as the two get closer to finding out where the ancient city that Plato wrote about may lie.

Jess notes the limestone and other characteristics of the rock that may have clues.

She says: “This stuff is really weak, also really bad in big earthquakes or landslides.”

The findings confirm that the two are on the right track about something bigger impacting this area, perhaps a  regional catastrophic in this area that is extremely geologically active.

Stel is over the moon and says this news is fantastic. He has been searching and wondering about Atlantis since childhood.

About Hunting Atlantis

The Lost City of Atlantis has fascinated philosophers and historians for nearly 2,400 years and is known as one of the most alluring mysteries of the world.

With a new trail of evidence, author and expert Stel Pavlou and volcanologist Jess Phoenix set out on a quest to solve the greatest archaeological mystery and rediscover Atlantis.

Stel and Jess travel around the world, exploring ancient sites in search of the legendary lost city. Together they visit and explore sunken cities, archaic artifacts, and geological catastrophes.

Pavlou is the author of the groundbreaking new theory on Atlantis’ destruction near the beginning of the fifth millennium BCE. Throughout the season, Stel and Jess set out to destinations in and around the Black Sea where they investigate a 7000-year-old skeleton buried in gold treasure, a mysterious Greek island where an advanced ancient civilization built a massive marble pyramid and unexplored archeological sites along the Adriatic coast of Croatia where underwater relics from an ancient bridge system lead them to an age-old legend of a lost city and into a massive sinkhole that could swallow a city whole.

The series is produced for Discovery Channel by Revelations Entertainment.
