This May Be Proof TLC Is Completely Done With The Duggar Family

Following Josh Duggar’s arrest for the possession of child sexual abuse material, TLC decided to cancel Counting On. The network released a statement that reads, “TLC will not be producing additional seasons of Counting On. TLC feels it is important to give the Duggar family the opportunity to address their situation privately.”

Fans of the show aren’t happy that Josh’s actions caused the show to be canceled for the whole family. They hope that TLC will create a spin-off of Counting On or still feature the family in special standalone episodes.

Now, it’s looking like TLC may not work with the Duggar family again for a while.

TLC skips potential Duggar family specials

In the past, when the Duggar kids have gotten married and given birth, those big moments were featured on the show. In some cases, they would be aired as standalone special episodes. There have been two recent Duggar weddings, including Justin Duggar and Claire Spivey, as well as Jedidiah Duggar and Katey Nakatsu.

The wedding video for Jedidiah and Katey was released this week. The full video is 30 minutes long, and there’s also a five-minute video of the highlights from their special day.

While providing commentary on the video, Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball points out that this is a sign that the wedding won’t be featured on Counting On. Throughout the video, it doesn’t look like there are any TLC film crews present. Plus, any footage TLC wanted to air could have been exclusively theirs meaning the videos couldn’t be seen on YouTube like they are now. If the network wanted to continue airing Duggar content, they would likely include weddings or births.

It’s possible that TLC will air shows or specials with the Duggars later on. But for now, the network seems to be moving on. TLC may wait until after Josh’s trial to make a decision. Per TLC’s statement, they won’t be creating additional seasons of Counting On. So, they would have to create a spin-off if they were going to continue to work with the family. Of course, this is all speculation, and the network hasn’t shared its future plans for the family.

So, do you think this is a sign that the Duggar family won’t be back on TLC? Or do you think they could return to the network later on? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. With the show being so popular, and considering how much it is liked, Josh’s actions shouldn’t determine the cancellation, he wasn’t even appearing on it. How would you like to be fired from your job because of something your brother did?
