Loki - Marvel studios

The only silver line waiting at the end of the Season Finale of Loki on Wednesday, July 14, was the fact that the brief scene after the credits confirmed Season 2 would happen. Now, there are already Season 2 rumors swirling that the writers might introduce a boyfriend for the God Of Mischief.

Three episodes in, Loki confirmed he was bisexual

Disney Plus viewers were thrilled when Loki and Sylvie had a conversation about significant others three episodes into the series. Loki made it clear he was interested in both men and women. From that moment on, Disney Plus viewers were hopeful the series would explore Loki’s sexuality in a little more depth.

Unfortunately, Loki Season 1 was only six episodes long. And, it came to an end without Loki exploring his sexuality in any depth. Viewers, however, remain hopeful this is a path the writers will consider for Season 2.

Director Kate Herron gives viewers hope on boyfriend for Loki in Season 2

Prior to the Season 1 Finale dropping, Collider sat down with the director of Loki. The news outlet asked the director if she thought Loki would share a romantic connection with another man in the series. Would the God of Mischief find his prince? Kate Herron offered a very cryptic response to the question. But, it gave fans hope there would be a boyfriend in the future.

Basically, I don’t know plans for the future with Loki — I’m so focused on this story. But I would say that part of my thinking was, well, if it’s canon and it’s acknowledged, then yeah I hope there’s obviously more road to travel with that aspect of his personality. And I hope it has opened the door to more stories, definitely.”

As Pink News reminds us, Kate Herron is also bisexual. It was always her plan for Loki to be a “game-changing character.” She also noted that Marvel as a whole acknowledged how important that scene with Loki coming out as being interested in both men and women was for the community.

The director added: “I guess I would say on the creation at the moment, it’s canon in the comics, he’s being written as bi and also pan, and I just wanted to make sure that we were acknowledging that aspect of his personality. Because the whole show is about Loki’s identity, and it felt like, well, we should be acknowledging this.”

The director is proud Loki’s sexuality was included

Kate Herron admitted during the interview she was thrilled they were able to work Loki coming out and normalizing it. She proceeded to explain how important it was for him to reveal his sexual identity at the right moment.

She continued to explain: “When I joined, it was very important to me, and it was also very important to the team as well, like the writers and the studio. So I think for us, it was really just about finding a moment that felt like the right moment for it. I think the train felt good to us because, it’s a very raw conversation, they’re both opening up about their lives.”
