Season 7 casting news spoils Chicago Med Season 6 cliffhangers

Chicago Med wrapped Season 6 with cliffhangers per usual. According to Cinema Blend, there is also “news that two original series stars were departing on top of the fact that the original contracts of the original cast of regulars had expired at the end of Season 6.” Unfortunately, the expiring contracts leave room for more original cast members to leave the series.

Luckily Cinema Blend also reports on some good news for Chicago Med fans. The outlet confirms that “several cast members” are returning. They also share how the cliffhanger involving Will Halstead is potentially resolved. Keep reading for more details.

As usual, Will seems to have a lot going on at the end of Season 6. Goodwin fires him for “crossing lines with his clinical trials.” However, Chicago Med fans know there isn’t anything that he won’t do for Natalie. This instance is no different. Will was stealing meds for her to give to her sick mother.

However, fans also know that Natalie doesn’t handle having a guilty conscience very well. So she rushes to tell Goodwin the truth. So while it may look like Nick Gehlfuss may have an out from Chicago Med, cast news confirms that he isn’t going anywhere.

Who is coming back and who isn’t?

According to Deadline, the following cast members are returning for Season 7 (and Season 8) Chicago Med.

  • Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson)
  • Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt)
  • Ethan Choi (Brian Tee)

In other good news for the Chicago franchise is that there was a three-season renewal last year. So that guarantees two more seasons of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.

When Chicago Med returns, it will be interesting to see how things pan out with April and Natalie. Unfortunately, fans have to wait until the fall to get any ideas about the new dynamic of the series. Chicago Med will still air at 8 PM ET on Wednesday. The series will be promptly followed by Chicago Fire at 9 PM ET and Chicago PD at 10 PM ET.

Are you shocked to learn that April and Natalie aren’t returning to Season 7 of Chicago Med? What do you think about the returning cast? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. Make sure to come back to TV Shows Ace for more television news.
