The stars have finally aligned. Fans of the popular series Murder, She Baked will be thrilled to know that Cameron Mathison (All My Children, The Christmas Club) and Alison Sweeney are back in Canada, filming a new mystery! Although it has been over four years since they played Hannah Swensen and Mike Kingston, the two are back and have just started filming.

Here is all the latest information.

Hallmark Is Now Filming Latest Murder, She Baked Episode

Although it has been a long time coming, there is a new Murder, She Baked episode being filmed! The name of the movie is Cream Puff Murder.

According to ET, Alison Sweeney and Cameron Mathison are currently filming their sixth movie in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries franchise.

In addition, Barbara Niven (Chesapeake Shores) will reprise her role as Delores Swensen, Hannah’s matchmaking mother. Alison Sweeney was pretty exuberant about returning to the series.

“I’m so excited to revisit Hannah Swensen and to again work with Cameron and Barbara on these fun stories that combine romance with intrigue. The fans have been so vocal in their love of these characters and it’s exciting to be bringing them back to life and to return to Hannah’s bakery where it all began.”

The Murder She Baked series is about Hannah Swenson (Sweeney). They are based on the Joanne Fluke mystery series. Hannah is a bakery owner who finds herself an amateur detective in the small Minnesota town called Eden Lake.

At her bakery and cafe, Hannah gets a lot of gossip and clues about the mystery. People are willing to share tidbits of information when they are nibbling on one of her specialty cookies, or sinking into a piece of pie.

Meanwhile, her love interest, Detective Mike Kingston, is a widowed police officer. He likes to play by the rules. Mike wants Hannah to stick to baking, and leave sleuthing to the professionals.

In the new movie, Hannah and Mike are now engaged! They are trying to make it all work, despite being very busy with their careers. When there is a murder at Hannah’s gym, things get even more complicated. That is because Hannah feels the need to get involved. Mike may not be so happy about this.

Four Years Since Last Murder, She Baked Movie

The last movie in the series, Murder She Baked: Just Desserts, aired in March 2017. Since then, in 2019, Alison moved on to the Chronicles Mysteries, a series she helped develop. She remained vague on the possibility of returning to her role as a baker and small-town sleuth, Hannah Swensen.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Cameron Mathison began co-hosting Hallmark’s own Home & Family, along with Debbie Matenopoulos. Hallmark fans were shocked when the series was canceled about six weeks ago. Many hoped for a Hannah and Mike reunion, and now they are getting it!

Back in 2019, The International Business Times reported on a fan’s question about the series. It was directed at Cameron. Could the series return? Initially, Mathison’s compact answer was, “If the stars align.” Then he elaborated. “We want to, but things just kind of shift and change, and people are working on different things. So, if the stars align, it’ll happen. I think this will happen, I just don’t know when.”

  1. I am completely thrilled that Alison Sweeney and Cameron Matheson are returning with new episodes of murders she baked. I absolutely love the shows And love Allison, Cameron, and all the regulars including Barbara and Niven. Thank you so much for these new episodes me and my family are thrilled.

  2. OK I thought that they changed the name of the series to HANNAH SWENSON MYSTERIES. also will they be doing something for 2022 this channel has changed and not for the better very disapointed about the shows that are not coming back and cannot find the shows on another network. sometimes when you become too cost conscience you lose what you had. I will say that the writers are awful and what i liked about HALLMARKhas changed for the worst. bring back all of the stars like Lacey Chablet and others to make good movies. Also Jill Wagner and her series it seems that money has cost the viewers what they like most and now we need to find other entertainment.

  3. Ditto MARY AND MARION (my middle name is Mary 😂)
That’s exactly how I feel. I really miss pre-Covid Hallmark. Just like I miss pre-Covid everything 😭 You posted a very long time ago and it is even worse now.
