Colton Underwood chats about Netflix show

TV Shows Ace reported that Colton’s documentary will be available to stream on Netflix. The news of Colton’s coming out and the announcement about his Netflix documentary coincided. Now that Colton has come out as gay, we know more details about the documentary, including the fact that it will feature his coming out story.

One part of the show will include the scene where Colton comes out to his family. Scott Underwood, Colton’s father, has high hopes for the show and the impact it may have on others. He said, “If it just helps a few young men and women come out and be proud of themselves and understand that all parents aren’t going to be upset, it can save lives.”

Initially, Colton and his ex-girlfriend Cassie Randolph were going to have a show together. It would feature their lives as exes, and it was being developed with Jeff Jenkins Productions. Later, the production company considered the idea of a show focusing on Colton’s coming out journey. After he was pitched this idea, Colton thought about it, met with a psychiatrist, and went to therapy for five months. Ultimately, he decided to do the reality TV show as a way to share his story with others. Netflix bought the rights, and the show will premiere on the streaming platform in 2021.

Petition to cancel show circulates

As we previously reported, the petition is being spread in hopes that Netflix will cut ties with the Bachelor Nation star.

On the page for the petition, the creator states, “Regardless of his sexuality, Colton should not be given a platform as a result of his abusive, manipulative, and dangerous behavior.” As of right now, the petition has over 30,000 signatures.
