Olivia Plath talks about navigating tough family drama

In her Instagram stories, Olivia posted a question box so fans could ask her questions. She responded to questions about a variety of topics. Some were lighthearted, such as where her dress is from, while others touched on some difficult topics, including her family.

The fan asks, “Advice on marrying into a family that’s different from yours and how you grew up?”

Olivia shares a lengthy message, mostly based on her own personal experience. She says she has learned from trial and error in her own relationships.

Then, she goes on to explain how it can feel to join a new family. She writes, “I think there is usually tension when you marry into/join a new family and have to figure out how to reconcile differences and make it work.” She reminds those who are in this situation to be respectful while still being themselves to maintain a “healthy relationship.”

Olivia continues and reflects on her own experience. She says:

“I did everything i could to get along in the beginning, but when I realized that there would always be conflict unless I let myself be manipulated and controlled, I decided that wasn’t a relationship I wanted. So I walked away. Every situation is different. Get counsel, ask others who can look at the situation with fresh eyes. Try to be kind and gracious, but don’t let yourself be used or walked on. At the end of the day, blood doesn’t always win if it’s toxic.”

Fans probably feel like they can trust Olivia’s advice on this topic since she’s experienced it firsthand in her relationship with the Plath family. Though it was rocky for her, she seems to be working toward getting into a better place now.
