My 600 lb Life: Sean Milliken

My 600-lb Life cast member Sean Milliken had a rough go of things on the TLC show. Meanwhile, losing weight on Dr Now’s program wasn’t the only thing he had to contend with.

My 600-lb Life: Sean Milliken’s TLC Journey

Beginning a My 600-lb Life journey is no easy task. All cast members on the TLC show come with a lot of emotional baggage – in addition to all the extra weight they carry around. Sean Milliken was no different by the time he got to Dr. Now’s office in Houston.

At the start of his My 600-lb Life journey, Sean Milliken clocked in at over 900 pounds. Due to his size, he was rendered immobile. Certainly, he got off to a rocky start when he first went on his new program. But even though the odds were against him, he seemed like he would turn things around.

Sean Made Some Progress on TLC

Despite being over 900 pounds at the start of his My 600-lb Life episode, Sean Milliken impressed the good doctor enough to qualify for weight-loss surgery. That in and of itself is a progress milestone that not all cast members reach. And in Sean Milliken’s case, he put in the work to get there.

In conjunction with his weight-loss surgery, Sean Milliken was able to drop hundreds of pounds. As a result, he was able to walk again after being immobile for many years. Meanwhile, as recently as his My 600-lb Life follow-up episode, it was clear he was still putting in the work even after filming his initial episode.

Tragedy Strikes for My 600-lb Life Star

Despite all the progress for the My 600-lb Life cast member, real-life reared its ugly head in a tragic way – and it led to Sean falling off course. Sean Milliken’s mother passed away in 2018. And that was a major blow in more ways than one for her son.

Sean Milliken’s mother was one of his biggest My 600-lb Life supporters. And in addition to grieving her loss, he was also without one of his biggest cheerleaders. Along with that, real-life came back to bite in other ways as well. Sean had to move out of his Houston apartment – and that was certainly a lot to deal with all at once for him.

Unfortunately for Sean Milliken, he passed away in the hospital in February 2019. His death was due to complications from an infection. Even though there are a lot of feel-good My 600-lb Life stories of people turning their lives around after filming the show, some of those stories end in tragedy. And unfortunately, the latter turned out to be true for Sean.
