Jamie Otis made a name for herself for being lovable on the first season of Married at First Sight. On social media, she has made her name even more known for her body-positive movement. Jamie is a mommy of two and openly embraces her “mommy” body on Instagram. While the body-positive movement has inspired many women, the journey hasn’t always been a smooth one. Jamie is still overcoming the obstacles of accepting her body wholly and completely. And continues to inspire women to do the same by being vulnerable with her fan base.
Jamie Otis’ Journey To Body Acceptance
Recently, Jamie has been posting pre-baby pictures of herself with a message to fans. In a recent Instagram post, Jamie wishes she could time travel so she can offer advice to her younger self and give her the “biggest hug.” Jamie’s advice includes telling her younger self to enjoy pizza and ice cream without punishing herself. And to believe that she is more than the number on the scale or a jean size.
The old Jamie was a lot more insecure. And she was not the type to leave the house “without her hair and makeup done. And wouldn’t dare wear a tight shirt if her belly was bloated.” It’s a stark contrast to the current Jamie who takes her photos at any angle without any shame.
Her words of encouragement offer insight into how long it took her to become body positive. “To be honest, it took me becoming a mommy & not wanting to miss out on precious moments with my babies (like swimming at the beach or at the park) before I took the plunge and just fully embraced myself!” She says in her Instagram caption, “It was the best decision of my life because now I’m not sure missing out on any moments and we are making beautiful memories.”
While it took Jamie having her babies to finally embrace her body. She is determined to get more people to discover their worth sooner than she did. Jamie’s body-positive movement has gained so much traction that she is now hosting Become Body Positive webinars.
‘Become Body Positive’ Is A Success For Jamie
Recently Jamie has been hosting free online webinars for people who need that extra push to accept their bodies for what they are. Her first session was a huge success. And she is not even close to stopping. “I’m so pumped.” She says before her first session, “I have been preparing for this for such a long time. I’m so nervous. I’ve worked so hard on it and I really hope that it does help change lives.” If she keeps this up, she is definitely going to change lives.
