There are some things in life that are sacred and family is right at the top of that list. Kody Brown demonstrated why you do not attack his family or his wives ever. On Twitter, a fan posted a comment blaming Robyn Brown for the dissolution of the plural marriage unit between Kody and his three other wives Meri, Janelle and Christine. But the post did not lay all the blame on Robyn. Instead, they said that Kody was partially to blame for neglecting his other wives in favor of Robyn. Kody’s defense of Robyn was swift and decisive as he told the fan that Robyn was a blessing and all the wives agree.

Robyn Brown

The tweet that incited Kody said, “Things went downhill when Robyn joined the family but that’s not all Robyn’s fault. Kody was so obviously in lust with Robyn he neglected his other wives.”

This fan failed to understand that this family dynamic was in place long before Robyn was introduced to the family. Every family has problems and to blame one person for all the trouble in a family is wrong.

During the first season of Sister Wives, Kody was legally married to Meri and spiritually married to Janelle and Christine. They call their marriage unit the Principle. During the first season, Robyn was Kody’s girlfriend and she was getting ready to become his fourth wife. Robyn had three children from a previous marriage. And in order for Kody to adopt Robyn’s children, he divorced Meri to legally marry Robyn. At that time Kody and Meri became spiritually married. Fans never saw the family before Robyn, so how could they know what the family was like before?

Trouble on ‘Sister Wives’

The underlying current throughout the series of Sister Wives is family. But there has been obvious jealousy between the wives over the years. Kody complained that he did not have a private room to get away from his wives during Sunday’s episode. But to this Robyn shot back in a confessional, “If I can survive sharing you and dealing with the jealousy and the drama and all the stuff that has to do with plural marriage then you’ll be OK.”

This was one of the first times Robyn has admitted to dealing with jealousy from the other wives. Christine in particular has admitted to struggling with her jealousy and confessing that she felt hated by her family. Christine further admitted, “When I get together for family gatherings, I’m like, ‘Why would I want to go? It’s going to be a hostile environment.”

Kody astounded fans during Sunday’s episode when he told his wives a hard truth. “I told friends recently that I didn’t want to be an advocate of plural marriage anymore.” Kodi explained that he is “aware of the apparent and obvious unfairness in the relationship. I have all the love I want, and you guys sometimes feel that you are pining constantly for me to give you some.”

Fans often pointed out Kody’s favoritism of Robyn and the show’s disingenuous portrayal of a functional plural marriage. Further evidence of the dysfunctionality is the recent allegation that Kody isolated only with Robyn during the lockdowns. And in doing so he ignored his other wives.

Sister Wives airs on TLC, Sundays at 10 p.m. EST.
