Netflix has brought some excellent news for fans of Fate: The Winx Saga. A second season is officially happening. What do we know so far?
Variety reports the excellent news for fans of the mysterical series. It comes less than a month since the first season premiered on Netflix. The streamer usually renews shows within two months of a release date, and renews earlier when there are good results in the viewer numbers.
What to Expect on Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2
As well as the renewal, there is a little more great news about the series. If you were disappointed by the short first season, you’ll be happy to hear that Season 2 will have two extra episodes. That’s a total of eight in Season 2. The Vampire Diaries writer, Brian Young, is back as showrunner and executive producer, keeping the feel of the series from the first season.
What about the cast? So far, the entire cast is set to return. This includes some of the supporting roles from the first season, helping to further build the universe the show only scratched the surface on. Headmistress Dowling is unlikely to return due to the way things ended for the character.
Extra casting isn’t known yet. That’s not uncommon considering Netflix has only just renewed the series. More casting news will come as it happens.
Picking Up with the Cliffhangers
Young shares that while there is more for Bloom in the second season, fans will also learn more about Aisha, Stella, Terra, and Musa. The first season helped set the stage, and now the second season allows the writers to delve deeper into it.
The first season certainly left some big questions. The biggest surrounded the real threat to the school. Rosalind killed Headmistress Dowling and is now likely in charge of the school. She has some ulterior motives in running the school, especially when it comes to rescuing Bloom from the Blood Witches who took her as a child. Meanwhile, Sky’s father Andreas is still alive, meaning there are a lot of questions around why he faked his death. That’s just scratching the surface on that ending!

When Will Season 2 Come to Netflix?
Having a renewal on the earlier side is great for keeping breaks between seasons to a minimum. Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 will likely arrive sometime in 2022. It takes about 14 months to go through all stages of production.
This could take a little longer this year. With the pandemic still a problem, it will take longer to film most content. Cast and crew need to go through extra COVID testing, and the writers may need to look at ways to make scenes COVID-friendly. This would likely push the release date to later into 2022.
In the article about the renewal, it states filming will start later this year. That suggests that summer 2022 is more likely a reasonable time frame for a Season 2 release date.
Fate: The Winx Saga Season 1 is on Netflix to catch up on before Season 2.
