Michelle Marescott appeared on My 600-Lb. Life because she wants to lose weight. In fact, she wants to lose it fast, through weight loss surgery. In order to do that, the woman, who appears on the latest episode of the reality television show, needed to first lose 60 pounds on her own. Working with Houston-based Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, that was the goal she was given.
Unfortunately, in the episode, Marescott finds out she’s not quite hit that goal. Dr. Now told her that she needed to lose this amount of weight in two months. The rationale was that it would show that she’s motivated to continue taking the weight off, after the surgery. During the episode, Marescott finds out she was close to hitting the goal, but not quite close enough. After stepping on the scale, the My 600-lb. Life hopeful found out she lost 44 pounds.
“That’s a lot, but it’s still not enough,” she said to the camera after the weigh-in.. “I know I worked hard. So it’s disappointing not to see more of a result right now. And I don’t know what Dr. Now is going to say about where I’m at today.”
When Dr. Now entered the room, he asked Marescott what happened. She replied that she wasn’t sure, since she worked quite hard.
“Well, not exactly, you worked hard to lose 40 lbs., but not as hard as you should have,” he responded. “Because if you did the diet you would have easily lost close to 100 lbs. So did you do the diet?”
This week’s My 600-lb. Life star then admitted she didn’t stick to the diet, “every day.”
‘My 600-lb. Life’ Hopeful Admits Slip-Up
After the doctor continued to delve into why she couldn’t lose the weight he told her to lose, Marescott also admitted that she slipped every now and then and ate things she was supposed to stay away from.
“So why are you lying to yourself about how hard you worked? And trying to lie to me about it?” Dr. Nowzaradan asked.
The question eventually leads to the woman admitting that she needs to work harder. She also vowed that she would make the changes she needs to make.
She then agreed to try and lose another 40 pounds over the next two months. The doctor said he’d be convinced she was dedicated to losing the weight if she could do that.
Marescott said earlier in the program that she’s known for a while that she needs to fix the way she lives. A few years back, she started gaining weight due to a food addiction. Eventually she got all the way up to 592 pounds.
She admits that as she put on more weight, she lost friends and family. She decided it was time to make a change when her parents died. Now since she’s appeared on My 600-lb. Life and agreed to undergo counseling, that change could come for real.
