‘DOOL’ SPOILERS: The Truth About Gwen
After months of build-up, Days of Our Lives FINALLY revealed Gwen’s secret this week. And it is a doozy. But it also only led to more questions for long-time fans. What will Gwen’s confession mean for beloved soap couple Jack and Jennifer?
Gwen’s Secret Revealed on DOOL
Gwen (Emily O’Brien) has been secretly gaslighting Abigail (Marci Miller) for months. From drugging Abigail to convincing Chad (Billy Flynn) that his wife is cheating on him. The British bombshell even talked Abby into blowing up her parents’ marriage by revealing the truth about Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Kate (Lauren Koslow.)
While Jack pretended to be a loving husband while Jennifer (Cady McClain) was in a coma, he was really seeking comfort in Kate’s bed.
Abby, Jack and Jennifer recently put their heads together to figure out why Gwen is out to get the Deveraux family. Meanwhile, Chad investigated Gwen on his own, going straight to Dr. Rolf (William Utay) for answers. As Chad clued Abby in, Gwen was dropping a bomb on Jack and Jennifer.
She is Jack’s daughter. This is something fans guessed months ago.

Then Who is Gwen’s Mother?
If Jack is Gwen’s father, then she must have a mother. Likely someone on canvas or from Jack’s past. Jack was quite the bachelor before he met Jennifer and settled down. And even then, the soap super couple spent several years apart, though they were off-screen at the time.
Given how much soaps love SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome,) Gwen could very well have been born during those separations or even years before that. It’s a soap – anything goes.
So, who could be Gwen’s mother? The most obvious guess is Eve (Kassie DePavia.) Jack and Eve were married back in the 80s, though they never slept together on-screen. It’s possible the two reconnected off-screen at some point during Jack’s time in Africa.
Another trope soaps love is a twin no one knew about. Perhaps Gwen is Abigail’s twin sister that was taken from Jennifer at birth. DOOL did a similar story last year with Jake/Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Vivian (then-Louise Sorel.)
One crinkle in that possibility – viewers watched Jennifer give birth to just Abigail at the Horton cabin.
Other fans guess that Kate might be Gwen’s mother. Perhaps Jack and Kate hooked up a long time ago or Dr. Rolf had a hand in it. After all, he was going to impregnate Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) with Stefano’s clone.
Speaking of Kayla, we know that Jack once raped Kayla. Could she have possibly had a secret baby from that? It seems that a child of Jack and Kayla’s would be much, much older than Gwen.
But to DOOL fans, age is just a number. There is a BONKERS rumor going around that Jennifer’s mother, Laura (Jamie Lyn Bauer,) is Gwen’s mother. As fans try their best to forget, Jack (then-Mark Valley) and Laura had a fling back in the 90s.
It seems completely out of the realm of possibility for Jennifer’s mother still being fertile when she was sleeping with Jack. But this is DOOL, after all. And reportedly, Jamie Lyn Bauer is heading back to Salem soon to reprise her role as Laura.
DOOL Has a History of Outlandish Storylines
Laura being the mother of Jack’s daughter might be the craziest storyline DOOL has ever aired. And that is saying a lot. Marlena (Deidre Hall) being possessed by the devil is pretty much the gold standard for outlandish soap opera storylines.
