Unpolished premieres Season 2 on TLC on Tuesday 12. If you missed Season 1, then you might need to catch up with the Martone family show. Is it a new Jersey Shore? Or, might it slot in where Keeping Up With the Kardashians left off? Sounds crazy, right? Well, this colorful family from Long Island brings a new aspect to TLC which doesn’t involve teens moms, off-the-wall relationships, or people with horrendous skin conditions. So, it’s refreshing, entertaining, and rocking with style and glam. Here’s what you need to know about the show.
Unpolished – feisty family, humor, glam, fashion, and more
Today, Salon Martone grows in popularity. But it started off in the family home. And the brimful-of-life grandma, Foxy set the path for the rest of the family. She started a hair salon in her home years ago. But, as her clients dwindled through old age erosion, her granddaughters also took an interest in cosmetology, hair, nails, and well-being. Jennifer, Lexi and Bria’s mom, oversees the reception and business finances these days. Meanwhile, Grandma Foxy still stays active making miracles with hair.
Lexi and Bria showed an early passion for following in grandma’s footsteps. Artistic, and enthusiastic, Lexi started out in life with a passion for art and fashion. And it all grew from a home full of clients looking for services, into a fashionable salon in East Northport, Long Island. Lexi studied fashion, but her deepest love involved art and nails. So, she after studied as a nail tech. Fans might recall her from Next Top Nail Artist where the Unpolished star came in as runner-up at the age of 22.
Bria studied cosmetology
While Lexi’s interests took her into nail tech, Bria loved make-up and hair. She studied cosmetology and also loves anything that beautifies people. Waxing, tanning, makeup, extensions, hair, and more lie in her sphere of interest and talent. These two young women already did nails and other services for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes, Blake Lively, Sophia Bush, and Victoria’s Secret Angels.
Of course, no TLC show’s exempt from drama, and this Italian family delivers that. Bria and Lexi grew up in the same home but they often don’t get on. New York Post reminds readers that one major dispute between them involves Bria’s fiance, Matt Mancuso. Lexi just can’t stand him and knew his “cocky ways ” from high school. He fathered twin boys in another relationship. And he and Bria wanted to elope in Season 1. That never happened, and fans see them get married in season 2 of Unpolished. Sadly, their dad Big Mike Martone won’t give Bria away at her wedding as he died from cancer earlier this year.
Lexi went for a gastric sleeve procedure
You’d probably never know it when you look at Lexi today, but she underwent a gastric sleeve procedure at quite a young age. She struggled with her weight a lot. And she gets many people with the same weight issues who admire her very much.
Overall, fans agree the Unpolished show is foxy, out there, high fashion, all about family, and thoroughly entertaining. So, if you look for something a bit different from the run-of-the-mill TLC tale, then you can tune in on TLC on Tuesday, January 12 at 10 pm ET/PT. This season you’ll see the family re-opening their Salon Martone after the coronavirus quarantine.
