Jeannie Mai Is Thankful To See Another Birthday After Medical Emergency

Dancing With The Stars fans got a nasty shock during Season 29. Jeannie Mai, a clear fan favorite, unexpectedly withdrew from the competition due to a medical emergency. But since then, The Real hostess made remarkable progress in her recovery. She recently celebrated her 42nd birthday and is just really thankful to be alive.

Jeannie Mai Is So Excited To Celebrate Her Birthday This Year

“This year is unlike any other year I’ve ever celebrated my birthday. It was an awakening year, one that made me recognize what it means to be truly GRATEFUL. Grateful for the little things that soothe my soul and mind..like making time to print pictures off my phone for my home, re-reading all the books that moved me as a child, (Flowers for Algernon..still an all-time fave), learning to dance and face my fears in front of America,” Jeannie captioned an Instagram post.

She went on to say that she’s so grateful for all the strength and resilience that allowed her to bounce back after her surgery. Jeannie thanked her fiance Jeezy, her family, and all her fans for their continued love and support.

“Thank YOU for this 42nd year of life that makes me grateful to CREATE!! The year ahead invigorates me to create all the things I’ve always wanted to enjoy. Specifically for my health and for my love of fashion 😍…I’ve got some exciting announcements coming up for Mai Fam!!! But most of all— I am utterly grateful for life. THANK YOU for the birthday wishes!! WHASSS GOOOOOD CAPRICORNS!!😎🤪,” The Real star concluded.

Plenty To Look Forward To In 2021

Even though Jeannie Mai’s time in the competition was cut short, she still managed to make it in time back for the DWTS finale. She was very happy to reunite with her partner Brandon Armstrong and watch the final four compete for the Mirrorball Trophy. Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev eventually won the whole thing.

Now that Jeannie is feeling better, she can focus on planning her wedding to Jeezy. She did say in the past she wanted a winter wedding. Maybe by the end of 2021, in-person celebrations will be allowed again.

“It’s such a romantic [time for a] wedding, it’s gonna be cold outside, everybody can snuggle up on each other,” Jeannie told PEOPLE. She added that she and Jeezy met on November 28, so that would be an excellent time for a wedding.

But in the meantime, Jeannie Mai just seems really thankful for what she has. She and Jeezy have been spending lots of quality time together and vacationing. Her medical emergency during Dancing With The Stars could have been fatal if it wasn’t treated immediately. It seems like she’s thankful for the time she has left now.
