Matt Roloff recently shared a festive Christmas photo for the holidays that featured both himself and his significant other as well as Amy and hers. That being said, Matt Roloff doesn’t always include Amy in Christmas celebrations. And, he revealed why during an early season of Little People, Big World.

Why does Matt Roloff sometimes exclude Amy?

Back in 2018, Matt Roloff hosted a Christmas Party with his girlfriend Caryn Chandler. He, however, made the decision not to invite his ex wife Amy to the party. The duo do share children together. But, their children are all grown now. And, many have children of their own. So, Matt and Amy not doing everything together makes sense. That being said, the duo remain connected through their children, grandchildren, Roloff Farms, and their reality TV series on TLC.

All this information in mind, some followers of the Roloff family understand why Matt might want to throw a party without including his ex wife. That being said, other followers of the family had questions about the exclusion when they learned all of Matt’s children and grandchildren were invited. Matt, however, was happy to explain why Amy Roloff and Chris Marek didn’t receive an invite.

Turns out, it was a very simple reason. Tension.

Amy Roloff often brings unwanted tension to family gatherings.

Back in 2018, Matt Roloff just wanted to have a nice Christmas party without any drama. He didn’t want the tension that often comes with his ex-wife. So, he decided not to invite her or Chris to the party.

So, I didn’t invite Amy and Chris tonight because I just thought, ‘Well, you know, they’re having a party,’ and I thought, ‘You know, I could’ve.’ It would’ve been nice if I thought Amy could just drop by and be cool and chill. But there’s still something there that’s just — you know. She brings tension or something to the room.”

Matt Roloff made it clear Amy showing up to the party without an invite would not have been an issue. But, he didn’t go out of his way to include her.

Did she have an issue with being excluded?

Now, Amy and Matt are no longer together. They both have new loves in their lives. And, their children are grown. So, there is nothing wrong with them both having their own individual time with their grown children and their grandchildren. There’s no real reason for them to have to celebrate every holiday as a blended family.

Fortunately, it didn’t seem like Amy minded the exclusion. In fact, it sounded like she embraced the opportunity to enjoy spending Christmas with Chris.

Amy, however, felt differently when Matt didn’t include her in a photo during a winter wonderland event they planned together. Amy admitted she was disappointed everyone was gathered and the photo was snapped without her. Matt, however, clarified he wasn’t even thinking about it. And, didn’t mean to exclude her.

That being said, it looks like they’ve put their tension and drama aside during Christmas of 2020.
