Vanderpump Rules Season 9 is still up in the air. Fans have if Bravo has canceled the show for good. Or will there be a new spinoff? Following the exits of Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright last week, rumors swirled that it could be the end of the Bravo series. Now, there’s been a recent update on the show.

The latest status on the popular reality series

Zack Peter, the host of the #NoFilter and #Adulting podcasts, made an update about the status of the show. On Monday, December 7, he took to Twitter to reveal that Vanderpump Rules Season 9’s status is currently unclear.

“There’s no OFFICIAL ‘cancellation,’ but talent options have not been picked up,” Zack Peter tweeted, adding that Season 9 is “still up in the air.”

The reason why he would know the status is because he’s interviewed several Pump Rules stars on his podcast in the past few months alone. Some of Zack’s celebrity guests include Ariana Madix and Scheana Shay. Both ladies expressed doubt over the show’s return. He doesn’t believe that the original cast members will return for the ninth season.

Instead, he thinks they will be on a rebooted version. Also, there could be a spinoff series based on Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval’s restaurant, which they share with Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd. Rumors of a TomTom spinoff have been making the rounds for months.

“I don’t think the original cast will return to [Pump Rules],” Zack continued. “Likely an attempted reboot of the show, & likely a TomTom spinoff.”

Stories could change due to Vanderpump Rules baby boom

A second report revealed that once filming resumes, the process for producing the series could change. Most of the Vanderpump Rules co-stars are expecting their first child, including Scheana Shay and Lala Kent. That means there could be a change with the storylines.

“The storylines and relationships [Pump Rules] was focused on have changed so much,” an insider told E! News on Tuesday, December 8.

A second source told the outlet that there is no production date in sight. This is due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Los Angeles. California is facing another shutdown, which has kept TomTom shut down since March.

“It’s hard to say when the show will come back but production is very much figuring out a direction for the show that would work in this new time,” the insider added.

Recently, Tom Sandoval shared his thoughts on the ninth season of the show. He just spoke to E! News a few days ago. Like his co-stars, Sandoval is in the dark about the new season.

“Obviously, we’re a show that heavily relies on nightlife being open,” he said.” And right now because of the current situation we’re in, I mean, we’re just kind of in a holding pattern until places are able to open up safely. So that’s pretty much all we know.”

If Vanderpump Rules does return, Sandoval confirmed that he and Ariana will “definitely” be involved. It’s just unclear how.
