‘Pivoting’ Adds Maggie Q To Its Stellar Lineup

Pivoting

While nobody knows what 2021 will bring in terms of filming abilities, the big networks are looking at pilots. Pivoting is one of the comedies in contention at FOX, and already has an outstanding cast. Maggie Q is now part of the stellar lineup.

Deadline announced the exciting news about the casting. Maggie Q will join Eliza Coupe and Ginnifer Goodwin as one of the three lead characters.

What is Pivoting About?

The series will follow three women who have to deal with the loss of a childhood best friend. It sounds a little like A Million Little Things, except this is designed to make everyone laugh. The women realize their lives are short, so they need to find happiness anyway they can. Naturally, that leads to some impulsive and ill-advised ideas.

At the same time, they want to deepen their own bonds with each other. That would be great if their ideas to find happiness weren’t so self-indulgent. One thing the series will prove is that it’s “never too late to screw up your life.”

Coupe and Goodwin will play Amy and Jodie respectively. That leaves the role of Sarah for Maggie Q.

FOX ordered Pivoting back in February 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic put everything on hold. Instead of scrapping the idea, FOX gave it chance to film the pilot episode with hope that it will join the 2021-2022 slate.

Who Will Maggie Q Play?

The Nikita star will play Sarah, a tightly wound doctor who has just divorced her cheating wife. Sarah rethinks every decision she has ever made, especially after the death of her friend. All she wants is a happy and easy life, and medicine is not going to give her that. So, she gives up her financially comfortable life and decides to work at a supermarket.

Naturally, her friends worry about her. It is clear that something is happening mentally, and her friends want to get to the bottom of it. If only they were in a position to help properly.

While Maggie Q has certainly made a name for herself on the likes of Nikita and Designated Survivor, she is not known for her comedy. This will mark her first comedy project.

Will Pivoting Be Picked Up to Series?

FOX will not make decisions about its pilots just yet. This usually happens in May of each year, although the coronavirus pandemic has put a lot of things on hold and changed the pilot season during the 2019-2020 cycle. ABC hoped it would mean a complete change to the pilot season, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case.

With its stellar casting and a storyline that many will be able to relate to, there is a good chance Pivoting will be picked up to series.

What do you think about the idea of the pilot? Would you like to see Pivoting make it to series? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
