Jon Gosselin is looking for his other children to step up and offer him some support after Collin’s allegations that he abused him. The Jon and Kate Plus 8 star spoke about the situation on a Tuesday episode of Dr. Oz according to Us Weekly.
“I think the kids need to talk,” he said. “I mean, I’m giving them the outlet of, ‘If you want to talk to the public because you’re public [people], you have every opportunity to do these things.”
The former reality television star made the comments amid allegations from one of his sons, Collin. The teen made some rather shocking claims on a since deleted Instagram post in September.
“My dad is a liar,” Collin wrote. “Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor. He is a liar.”
Jon Gosselin Cleared
After Collin’s claims, Berks County, Pennsylvania officials opened an investigation. Not long after that investigation opened, it closed.
District Attorney John Adams issued a statement at the time that “there was no citation or charges filed as a result of the incident.”
Despite the outcome of the investigation, Kate Gosselin, Jon’s ex-wife said he was an abusive man.
Collin is one of the pair’s sextuplets, along with siblings Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah. The former couple also shares twin daughters, Cara and Madelyn, now 20.
After Kate claimed he was abusive, Jon warned his ex-wife off of talking to the media anymore. During his interview with Dr. Oz, Gosselin said the only way there could ever be anything close to a reconciliation is if the other children stage an intervention.
“I have no idea if they’ll reach out in that way,” Jon said. “I’ve let that in their court and I’m just focused on the two that are living with me. There’s so much going on with therapies and work and COVID and everything else.”
Will The Kids Speak Out?
The comments from Jon could cause a problem for the rest of the family. The Gosselin patriarch is asking his children to take sides. His very public fight with Kate since their divorce had moments of relative peace.
His request for any of the six children to “intervene” with their mother on his behalf could lead to more strife soon.
Jon Gosselin’s appearance on the daytime talk show is new enough that none of his kids responded yet. It might be in their best interest to stay silent. Hopefully Jon won’t push things in private the way he did on TV. However, it seems like things are heating up.
