Khloe Kardashian is standing up for her older sister amid an online backlash. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday to talk about a range of topics. Included in the discussion is the tropical island getaway, whose announcement generated quite a bit of heated comments.
The reality TV star talked about how her sister flew the family and several friends to the island last week, for Kim’s 40th birthday celebration. The sisters posted several photos from the event while noting everyone quarantined ahead of time. Kim required everyone taking the trip to get tested ahead of time as well.
It appears the family thought any backlash would surface over a large gathering during a pandemic. Instead, the outrage was over an extravagant trip while most people are struggling to make ends meet. Khloe responded to some of that criticism when Ellen asked her about it.
A Getaway In The Middle Of A Bad Year
“I haven’t heard a lot about it, but I did hear that people were upset that we all went out of town. I don’t really know the extent of it,” she admitted. “But this year is a frustrating year. I get it. I think there’s so many frustrations going on for everybody. But also it’s her 40th. This is something that she wanted to do for us. It was such a nice thing.”
The KUWTK star also said she heard some people were concerned for the staff waiting on them. However, she said all of her friends and family were extremely safe before arriving. She added they were all so thankful for the service they got.
Khloe added the workers were happy visitors were coming back to the island after such a long shutdown.
“Being there with all the precautions that we took and being there and how grateful everyone was for the tourism aspect of it,” she said. “So many people said that we were their first party of guests that they’ve had in months and what it’s done for them to be able to pay their bills or to be able to do stuff for their family, just hearing those messages when we were there, we felt really good and we felt so safe. We did it in the safest way I could imagine someone doing it.”
Khloe Kardashian’s COVID
Eventually, the conversation turned to another topic entirely. Earlier in the week, a clip of the latest season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians divulged that Khloe had the coronavirus.
The reality star talked about how bad her symptoms were and how scared she was in the middle of it. She added the worst part was having to be away from her daughter, True for 16 days.
Some of Khloe’s experience with COVID-19 will air during the Thursday episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
