Kate Gosselin doesn’t want her million-dollar mansion anymore. The Jon and Kate Plus 8 star listed the Pennsylvania estate on the open market earlier this month.
Millions of viewers saw inside the house for the better part of 15 seasons. Now, if one has enough money, a fan could live inside it.
Gosselin is looking to sell the 23-acre Pennsylvania property that helped shape her and her family’s stardom. However, the asking price of $1.3 million means she’s not selling it for just anything.
Jon and Kate Gosselin purchased the property before they made their television debut. They meant it to easily house the couple, as well as their eight children. That included the twins, and the sextuplets that made the couple so popular amongst the reality television world.
E Online reported Gosselin is asking for just a slight bump over what they paid for it. Jon and Kate originally bought the place for about $1.1 million.
She got the property when the couple split. The six bedroom, seven bathroom was still home for her and the kids, while Jon looked elsewhere.
Kate Gosselin’s House Saw Heavy Drama
While the 7,591-square-foot residence was once a place of happiness, strife invaded relatively quickly. The couple raised their twins, Cara and Mady, now 20 years old, and sextuplets Hannah, Collin, Leah, Joel, Alexis and Aaden, who celebrated their 16th birthdays earlier this spring at the estate.
Kate filed for divorce after a decade of marriage in 2009. He relocated to New York, temporarily, while she stayed in Pennsylvania with the kids.
Custody arrangements changed over the years. Both Jon and Kate leveled myriad accusations at one another. The most recent fight involved Collin. In September, Kate accused her ex-husband of abusing the son.
However, an investigation by protective services found the allegations of causing bodily harm to be unfounded. Kate wasn’t thrilled they cleared her ex. She told the media shortly after they wrapped the investigation up that he was indeed an abusive person.
Leaving The Spotlight
Jon and Kate Plus 8 left the airwaves years ago, but it wasn’t the end of the Gosselin’s time on reality television. The family matriarch starred in the spinoff, Kate Plus 8. That series ended in 2017.
She returned again in Kate Plus Date late last year. That particular idea was short-lived as it appears at least some of the reality television star’s fan base eroded.
It’s possible her lack of active income in broadcasting led to the decision to sell the million-dollar location. Whether Kate, Jon, or any of the Gosselin kids will eventually return to television is anyone’s guess.
For his part, Jon is staying under the radar when he can. Even his reps during the most recent accusations made it clear he didn’t want the spotlight.
