Tamra Judge is opening up about her experience with skin cancer. She first spoke out about it in 2017. Now, in a new interview, she reflected back on her health diagnosis. The reality star said that she wasn’t the first person to notice her skin cancer.
Tamra noticed a mole on her butt that was diagnosed as melanoma. Her massage therapist pointed it out to her, which she revealed in the interview. In 2017, Tamra decided to get a massage in between filming RHOC. The massage therapist informed her to get the “little tiny black dot” checked out.
Now, Tamra is recalling what happened.
Tamra Judge talks about her melanoma diagnosis
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about her melanoma diagnosis. She also encouraged her fans to help support the American Cancer Society.
“I was actually filming in 2017,” Tamra said. “We had some time off, so decided to get a massage in my room. So the masseuse told me, ‘Oh, you have this little tiny black dot.’ And it was literally on my butt, like, the side of my butt. And she goes, ‘I think if I were you, I would get that checked out.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, OK.’ And I didn’t think anything of it.”
Tamra didn’t immediately take action. But, she eventually visited her dermatologist and asked her about the spot.
“She did the biopsy. And about a week later, she calls me, and she’s like, ‘It’s melanoma,'” Tamra recalled. “I never heard those words before.”

I had the opportunity to talk to @usweekly about my experience with melanoma, in partnership with @americancancersociety. Did you know that COVID-19 reduced the American Cancer Society’s research funding by 50% this year? This massive decrease means lives will be lost if we don’t continue to find better treatments for those battling. As someone who has been affected by cancer this is extremely important to me. I encourage you all to go watch the full interview on http://usmagazine.com' and donate to the American Cancer Society this holiday season at http://cancer.org (Link in bio)
The fitness trainer “started bawling” even though her cancer was “very treatable.” Tamra is grateful that her masseuse noticed the spot before she did. If it had gone unnoticed, the prognosis would have been severe. But Tamra admits that the journey was still difficult.
“But it was just going through the process and then just thinking, ‘OK, my body is failing me. I actually have melanoma,” she added.
A year later, Tamra underwent a second biopsy. Her doctor confirmed she was melanoma free. Thankfully, Tamra had the support of her husband Eddie Judge.
RHOC alum shares an important message with fans
Tamra Judge is using her platform to create awareness for skin cancer. These days, she encourages her fans to get checked for skincare. She wants to continue to spread awareness about the disease. The VENA CBD founder hopes that her story will inspire others.
Aside from staying on top of her health, Tamra wants to see people donate and volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
“It’s a very scary time to be fighting any kind of disease right now where you need medical treatment,” she added. “I just think that you have to stay strong, trust your doctor, be persistent, get second opinions.”
Tamra will continue to be passionate about helping cancer patients. She wants to make sure they get the care they deserve, especially amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The American Cancer Society revealed that 80 percent of cancer patients have experienced delays in their treatment due to the pandemic. This reduced the organization’s funding by 50 percent in 2020.
