Married at First Sight alum Jamie Otis is always open and honest with fans. She has walked fans through her journey and included everything. The good, bad and embarrassing is never off the table with Jamie. She shares good times and she shares struggles. In one of her latest Instagram posts, Jamie shares the emotional truth about postpartum bodies and how women hide their feelings.

Jamie gets real about postpartum and being a mom

She shared a black and white photo to Instagram. It is a side view and she is nude cradling her new son as he appears to be breastfeeding. She starts the post with, “The moment your baby comes out everything S H I F T S … and I’m not just talking physically.”

Jamie goes on to say women’s bodies appear to be the most celebrated when they are pregnant. People are excited and want to touch and see the baby bump. Then she says pregnant ladies have multiple doctor appointments, everyone is kinder by holding doors and other gestures. And, most women don’t feel guilty eating more than they normally would while carrying a baby.

The next part gets even more real. Jamie says the moment a baby is delivered, everything changes. She said, ⁣”You get one postpartum check up. One.⁣ You’re expected to care for yourself, your baby, your home aaaand let’s not forget our hubbies have “needs” too. ⁣ And yet, we do. Women are incredible beasts of humans, but we *always* put our needs last. We hide the bump that hasn’t gone away after baby. We shy away from asking for help for fear of seeming not “strong” enough.⁣”

She continues to encourage other women

Jamie continues on in her post saying women put a smile on their face regardless of how they really feel. And they try to not complain for fear of seeming ungrateful for all they’ve been blessed with. ⁣

She said, “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I wanted to tell you that you’re not ungrateful or weak or “fat.”⁣ It’s ok if you haven’t lost the baby weight — whether your baby is 4 mo or 40 years old.🤣⁣ It’s ok if you don’t feel like being as intimate as you once did.🙃⁣ It’s ok if you need an effin THERAPIST.🙋🏼‍♀️⁣.”

Jamie concludes saying all of these women are not alone. She gets them and she feels them. She says they are all still awesome wives and mama even with the labels society tries to pin on them. Jamie concludes by sending a virtual hug to all the mamas who may need one.

Her husband, Doug Hehner, comments on her post saying, “This is my favorite photo of you & our son. The love you have for me and our little family is so evident. You work so hard for us & we love you so much!❤️.”

Stay tuned for more updates about Jamie and Doug as they continue to share their beautiful lives with fans.
