Love Island couple Laurel and Carrington fell in at fourth place on the season finale. But they’re satisfied with their villa experience. Some fans might beg to differ though. Even former islander Laekyn put Carrington on blast.

He quickly became the most hated guy in the villa. Even more so than Johnny Middlebrooks. In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lakeyn shared her concerns about Carrington. She feels that he was only with Laurel just to be on the show.

Now Carrington is fighting back and addressing those concerns.

Carrington defends his relationship with Laurel

The Love Island couple had a Zoom interview with ET’s Ash Crossan. Carrington and Laurel addressed the past few weeks.

“I came to Love Island to find a girl that I not only want but need in my life, someone who’s going to be great for me,” he exclaimed. “And I talked around, as I should, and I found Laurel. It was a roller coast but I accomplished what I wanted so I’m very happy about it.”

Laurel explained that both she and Carrington “had very different journeys.” She didn’t think she was going back to the villa with him. But then they “built something from the ground up” that they hope will “carry through into the outside world.” Laurel made it clear that she’s hopeful for their future.

However, Lakeyn didn’t hold back on her thoughts about Carrington. She doesn’t think he has true intentions with his relationship with Laurel. She told ET that he was only with her “for the show and then once they get off the show, I see him being a hurtful person to her, hurting her and leaving her pretty fast.” Carrington immediately shot down her claims.

Carrington addresses Lakeyn’s comments

“The funny thing about Lakeyn was she was trying to be in Laurel’s shoes,” he said. “She said many times Laurel was not right for me, she wanted to be with me, so this is just out of spite. Me and Laurel know that we wouldn’t listen to someone who wants to talk about our relationship, who clearly wanted to be with me. It just wouldn’t make any sense to listen to her.”

Carrington had a lot to say in the interview. But Laurel revealed that she doesn’t “really have much to say on that” matter. As for Carrington, he continued to defend himself. He claimed that if he was “trying to be fake,” then he would’ve stayed with Kierstan.

Love Island couple hasn’t made their relationship official

As for their relationship, Carrington thinks the distance is a good thing even if it feels weird to be apart. He told ET that they “have very realistic expectations for the outside world.” Carrington and Laurel haven’t yet made their relationship official, but they plan to call each other all the time. Regardless, he will use this time to determine if they still want to be together.

He plans to fly out to Auburn, Alabama to meet Laurel. Carrington also shared that they will take “one or two trips” each month until they decide it’s “okay to end the long distance.” Then he continued to defend their relationship.

“Laurel knows how I feel about her. I am working consistently to show her how much I feel and I’m just happy,” he added.

Laurel shared the same sentiments for Carrington. Carrington and Laurel’s time on Love Island was full of ups and downs. However, the couple made it clear that they’re going to make it work.
