According to the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries press release, J.L. Family Ranch: The Wedding Gift continues the story of former sheriff, John Landsburg (Voight) and the family ranch. When the Landsburgs start to transition their ranch into a fabulous bed and breakfast, there is a bit of a delay. Everything changes when Henry (Dylan Walsh) finally proposes to Rebecca (Teri Polo).
Now, Rebecca needs to plan her wedding. In comes Claudia Dupree (Bo Derek) who is helping Rebecca plan her perfect day. Meanwhile, Claudia and John find time for their own little romance.
But when Caleb Peterson (Judson Mills) returns after a 20-year absence, Rebecca’s life goes into turmoil. Caleb had taken off all of those years ago. He abandoned Rebeccas and their unborn child. Now their daughter is grown up and she wants to get to know her father.
But, Caleb still has to settle a hefty price for his past misconduct. Does Tap Peterson (Caan) have to put the Peterson Ranch on the line in order to save his son?

What is the original J.L. Family Ranch about? The first movie was about two Texas adversaries, John Landsburg and Tap Peterson. Pesky millionaire Tap Peterson cites some federal mumbo jumbo that states that John Landsburg doesn’t own his beloved Texas ranch.
Now Landsburg needs all the help he can get to fight this viper. In comes John’s old girlfriend, Laura Lee (Melanie Griffith) who comes to town when John is in trouble. Add to it, daughter Rebecca also has her own plans. She is planning her own Texas homestead.
