So far, the status of Vanderpump Rules Season 9 is currently up in the air. SUR Restaurant remained closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Unlike the other Bravo shows, the popular reality series hasn’t started filming. That’s because the cast and crew would have to undergo several safety procedures in order to film Season 9.

Rumors swirled that Bravo might pull Vanderpump Rules off the air. Back in June, the network fired Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni for their past racist comments and actions. In addition, viewers have been calling for other co-stars to be fired, including Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Lala Kent.

Everything is on hold right now. But there is some good news for fans. SUR Restaurant is finally reopening soon.

Guillermo Zapata announces reopening of SUR Restaurant

The Argentinean actor and owner of several fine restaurants in Los Angeles, including SUR, took to Instagram to make a special announcement. On Thursday, September 17, he announced that SUR will reopen on Wednesday, September 23. Guillermo Zapata ran the establishment alongside Lisa Vanderpump for a decade.

The handsome entertainer posted a photo of a yellow margarita. In the caption, he wrote, “Finally !! Can’t wait to have one of these delicious Margaritas (with dinner 🍽 ) from the best Bartenders in town . SUR RESTAURANT reopens 😷Wednesday’s September 23 /2020.”

In the comments section, one of Guillermo’s followers asked if the city had lifted the bar restrictions. Guillermo explained that while the bar remains closed, patrons can have drinks with their dinner at the outdoor area. That means people can only eat outdoors. It’ll be interesting to see how Bravo plans to film the show outside, if everything is a go.

Katie Maloney “has no idea” if the show will return

Vanderpump Rules co-star Katie Maloney recently said she “has no idea” if the show will return. Fans are wondering what the future will hold for the show, especially after the firings and the ongoing pandemic. In addition to the firings, Lisa’s establishments have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Katie seemed uncertain about the show’s future.

“I have no idea,” she said. “Every day, I’m being like, ‘Maybe today we’ll get the phone call!’ But, no… I’m hopeful. They haven’t canceled it, so there’s hope still. At least there’s not, like, anything definitive in that regard.”

Regardless, Katie plugged the clever acronym behind SUR. She said that the closing has affected production. There’s no show without an attractive group of people working at the restaurant.

Vanderpump Rules Season 9 details

Many fans believe that Bravo will transform the series after the firings. Some have called for more diversity on the show. A few months ago, former VPR co-star Faith Stowers recalled her experience as the only Black person on the show. She revealed that Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute called the cops on her for a crime she did not commit.
