AJ McLean is going to start living up to his last name. The former boy bander has lost fifteen pounds since the beginning of lockdown. Now, that he is going to be on Dancing With The Stars, he’ll most likely lose more weight.
The 42-year-old said of his transformation that it’s, “unrecognizable and I couldn’t be happier.” He shared a side-by-side comparison on his Instagram, seen below, and couldn’t believe the difference.
AJ McLean Will Get Into Even Better Shape On DWTS
Now that AJ McLean is on DWTS he is going to get in even better shape. The 42-year-old has been very open lately, saying he stays sober for his kids. As his fans know, McLean has two daughters to stay healthy for. According to an interview with Refinery from a couple years ago, AJ is devoted to his family. He said, “there is truly no better feeling than being a father and seeing the look on my daughters’ faces. How they idolize me and how they look up to me.”
With the gyms closed down he’s been training hard at home. He shared a shirtless picture. He captioned it, “Blood, sweat, tears. Rinse and Repeat.Thank you @bobbystrom for helping find my body and piece of mind again! This is an ongoing journey that I will never stop working on. Never felt better and more confident about my mind body and spirit as I do today.”
He’s been able to FaceTime with his trainer. McLean said he is, “finally starting to see some loss in body fat,” according to US Weekly. He also said he’d been doing some extra training biking. McLean said, “my best friend, who’s my sponsor, we just got these mountain bikes. I just went on a 21-mile bike ride today!”

What Does He Attribute His Weight Loss To?
AJ McLean shared what he’d been doing to get into great shape and lose weight before Dancing With The Stars. He said, “I’m on a very strict diet, grain-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, no sodas of any kind, and completely sober for almost nine months. This amazing, but rigorous, workout is all due to my amazing trainer, Mr. Bobby Strong.”
AJ said about getting ready for the show he just wants to, “get in the best shape of my life and to be healthy and to be happy.” AJ will join fellow contestants; Jesse Metcalfe, Carole Baskin, and Chrishell Stause on Mondays starting September 14th on ABC.
