RIP to Kelly Ripa’s Root Watch
All good things must come to an end! Kelly Ripa got a lot of credit from fans for embracing her greying hair during the quarantine. But now that she is returning to the studio, the grey hairs are no more.
Co-Host Colors Hair Ahead of Live With Kelly and Ryan Resuming In-Studio Production
Throughout the pandemic, Kelly continued with her talk show. Live With Kelly and Ryan went virtual, with Kelly and co-host Ryan Seacrest filming separately from home. Since ‘glam squads’ weren’t allowed, Kelly did her own hair and make-up or relied on her daughter, Lola.
Salons were also shuttered in March. So, a lot of celebrities let their natural hair shine through. In Kelly’s case, that meant her roots turning grey. But things that happened during quarantine are staying in quarantine.
During Live With Kelly and Ryan’s first studio show in months, the hosts chatted about Kelly’s hair. She expressed to Ryan how good it felt to get her hair colored for the first time in months. However, People reports that Kelly’s hair actually got healthier without the products and hair dyes.
Kelly was even reminded that her hair is naturally curly. She said, “My hair is curly too which I forgot because I spent so much time blowing it out only to put curls back into it.”
The former All My Children star went over the salon’s safety precautions, including requiring masks.
Kelly Ripa Keeps Fans Entertained During Quarantine With ‘Root Watch’
Even though Kelly often wore her hair in ponytails, fans still noticed the grey creeping in at her roots. Her followers often commented on her changing hair color. Kelly took the jokes in stride. She posted videos to her Instagram Stories keeping track of the greying roots. She dubbed it “Root Watch.”
The TV host recently took to Instagram to share a collage of the changes. The photos represent each month of the quarantine, from January to September. In January’s photo, Kelly’s hair is the usual honey blonde. By September her grey roots are quite prominent.

But not anymore!
The quarantine has given viewers a chance to see the ‘real’ side of television stars. Kelly Clarkson did her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, from home, too. However, she often went completely make-up free during the quarantine episodes. And fans adored seeing her natural beauty.
Some soap stars took the chance to stop dyeing their hair and embracing the grey. Of course, now that soap operas are resuming production, the actors went back to dyeing their hair.
