The argument that led to police being called to their home came as Paul found out Karine had visited an immigration lawyer. In Sunday’s episode, viewers see Karine hop into an Uber with baby Pierre to visit the said lawyer. She wants advice about taking her son back to Brazil as she is missing her family.

In a confessional, Karine explains that things are not going well since she arrived in America. She said she and Paul are constantly fighting. This is mainly because she had problems adjusting to her new surroundings. For one thing, she isn’t happy with their living situation in the trailer park. For another, Karine had given Paul two months to find a job and he still has no full-time work. Now feeling desperate, Karine said she found an immigration lawyer named Rania to give her advice.

While Paul was visiting his mother, Karine took an Uber to the lawyer’s office and meet with Rania and a Portuguese translator. Rania tells the cameras how “complicated” Karine’s situation actually is. She said the 90 Day Fiance star had expected things to be easier in the States, but this obviously isn’t the case. However, while Karine does have the rights to take her son to Brazil, it wouldn’t be easy for her.

Karine does have rights but it isn’t easy

Rania told Karine that as a legal resident, she does have every right to take her son to Brazil. However, she explained that if Karine does so without consulting Paul first, it wouldn’t be good. Things would likely get much worse between them in that case. Rania spoke of the “backlash” Karine could expect from Paul. Moreover, she explained he has as many rights to her son as she does.

The immigration lawyer said the only good way to take Pierre out of the country was from being on good terms with Paul. When heading back home in the Uber, Karine explained to the camera that she wants the best for Pierre. This is so, even if it means going back to Brazil.

Later in the episode, fans heard Paul’s side of the story. He explained that he has problems finding a good job due to his criminal record. The couple sat down for a heart-to-heart talk and Karine explained what she wanted to do. Paul was naturally very upset to hear her plans and said it was “messed up.” He added that should Karine proceed, he would “prosecute” as he doesn’t want his family split up without his consent.

Karine told Paul she would never stop Paul from seeing their son, but as the conversation continued, she broke down into tears. The segment ended with Paul trying to console his wife.
