When Does ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Premiere?
This Is Us is returning to NBC soon with the Season 5 premiere. This is the second to last season, as the show is set for a total of six seasons. Here’s everything we know so far.

On Thursday, NBC shares that the season will premiere on Tuesday, November 10.

Typically, the show returns sometime in the fall. This is much later than previous seasons though.
On August 25, in an interview with NPR, Dan Fogelman, the show’s writer and creator, talked about filming. He said that he wasn’t sure when the show would be able to start filming again. So, this is the reason for the delay.
For months, fans have been wondering when This Is Us will be back. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, TV show production was shut down. This included the hit NBC drama.
On August 16, Fogelman tweeted about just how unclear things are when it comes to the show’s production right now. His tweet reads, “Some vague #ThisIsUs answers (sorry) – Not sure yet on production start. – Not sure when new eps will air. – Yes on Covid. We’ve decided to attack things head on.”
What is the first episode about?
This Is Us often focuses on timely and real-life issues. So, the two-episode season premiere features things like the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests.
Fogelman chatted with NPR about this. He says, “I felt like, considering everything that’s going on in our country, we have an opportunity and almost a responsibility — without getting into the politics of it all — to capture what this is … a very unusual, landmark moment in time.”
Of course, Season 5 will jump back into where the Pearson family members’ lives were left off. Just a reminder, Kate and Toby were considering adoption. Kevin’s going to be a father. Rebecca’s health is continuing to worsen. Randall is going through a rough patch with Kevin. This season should be just as busy as the previous four.
