‘Bachelorette’ Rachel Lindsay Defends Her Hatefulness Towards Garrett Yrigoyen Says He ‘Deserves a Harsh Response’
Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay is standing her ground. She’s holding firm to the hatefulness she has shown towards Garrett Yrigoyen. Rumors are flying that Becca Kufrin and Garrett have separated as a result of his social media posts supporting police officers. The support comes amid the George Floyd protests and Bachelor Nation’s calls for diversity. Why is Rachel so angry and hateful towards Garrett?
Rachel stands her ground against Garrett
US Weekly shared details about what Rachel had to say as a follow up to her hateful words. This response comes following Rachel’s comments about Garrett on another podcast earlier this week. She had said, “I think he’s a piece of s—t.” She continued,“I have said to her, ‘I will not f—k with him.’ He has doubled down on his beliefs. This isn’t the first time he’s had problematic behavior. When he was on the season, he had a history of ‘liking’ things that were racist, sexist, homophobic, calling the Parkland students child actors, it was a lot, so this is who this man is. And he’s a piece of s–t to me.”
Rachel received some backlash from fans over her comments towards Garrett. So, in response she is vocalizing her feelings and standing behind what she said.
She went to Instagram Live to share her reasons behind being so harsh. Rachel said, “My wording was harsh. It was definitely harsh, but you have to understand where I’m coming from when I say those things.” She continued, “It’s not a one-time thing. It’s not simply based on Blue Lives Matter, which I will encourage all the people in my comments who want to counter what I say with ‘Blue Lives Matter,’ look into that movement and see when it was created and what it was actually created for and against.”
She went on to say that her words were harsh because she is combating something that is harsh. Rachel said, “My words were harsh because I think that when you’re talking and saying things that are homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, I think that it deserves a harsh response.”

She feels she’s been silent for too long
Rachel is anything but subtle. Fans can count on her to stand up for what she believes in and defend her stance on the subject. She believes fans think she’s been too outspoken. However, Rachel says she has just had enough. She said, “I have been silent for a long time because this isn’t the first time these words have been spoken.” Rachel went on to say, “They have been spoken for years and years, and I was respectful and I did take the higher road, for all those people out there saying that I don’t. … I’ve had enough.”
There is no word yet if Becca and Garrett have broken up, although fans suspect they have. They have been spending time apart and have not interacted very much on social media. Many believe they are waiting to announce their split until after August 6. If they keep quiet until past this date, Becca will be able to keep her ring.
