Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay is the latest reality star to be hit with “blackfishing” claims. Her anti-racism post didn’t go as planned. VPR fans didn’t like her latest Instagram photo even if it had a nice message behind it. The 35-year-old looked ridiculously tanned.

However, the Instagram post had meaning. Scheana revealed that donations would be sent to non-profits dedicated to combatting racism among young children. While she had the right intentions, she didn’t expect the backlash she received. VPR fans took to the post to accuse her of “blackfishing.” Of course, Scheana Shay didn’t back down. Instead, she fought back.

As per The Blast, Scheana Shay posted the following photo of herself striking a pose. In the photo, she wore her long black hair in a high ponytail and styled with braids. She covered her body in a baggy hooded black sweatshirt. While Scheana kept most of her body covered, fans couldn’t keep their eyes off her hands and face. Some of them said she looked darker than ever.

“$12,000 Gifting! I’m teaming up with @jbsocialcollective to give TWO of you $4,000 cash each!” Scheana captioned the photo. Under that same post, the “Schenanigans” host said that the company will donate “$4,000 to @theconsciouskid, a non-profit supporting organizations, families, and educators in taking action to disrupt racism in young children.”

But fans didn’t like Scheana’s post. They thought the photo she used was questionable and inappropriate.

“omg. blackfishing, seriously?” one fan wrote. That comment caused other fans to jump in with their own thoughts.

“Right? Def tone much?” someone else wrote.

“The thought immediately came to my mind,” another fan wrote.

But some defended Scheana Shay and her heritage.

“No ma’am she’s Latina and looking very Latina here,” one fan wrote. “She is not black fishing at all as she has dark olive skin.”

Then others noted that Scheana was wearing “cornrows.” One of them told the reality star to “go back under the rock you came from.” Scheana was sick of the negativity and had to defend herself.

The Vanderpump Rules couldn’t stand the negative comments. Scheana Shay responded to the trolls who made the “blackfishing” comments.

“My skin isn’t even darkened here,” Scheana fired back. “I’m half Mexican and tan. It’s also the lighting. Ask my friend who took the pic.”

The Good as Gold singer also fired back at those who accused her of wearing cornrows. “But in NO WAY is my hair like supposed to be offensive,” Scheana wrote. “That’s an insane stretch.”

Despite the controversy, Scheana has yet to remove the photo. Scheana Shay isn’t the only Bravo reality star who’s been accused of “blackfishing.” As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Brielle Biermann was accused of “blackfishing” in a now-deleted Instagram post. She defended herself and made her big return to Twitter after she received so much backlash for the bikini photo.
