Kanye West Is ‘Taking Off The Red Hat’ – Rapper Denounces His Support Of Trump

Kanye West recently revealed that his political ties have changed dramatically. The now 43-year-old rapper/entrepreneur recently sat down with Forbes Magazine for an intimate exclusive interview that shed some light on his recent 2020 presidential bid and why he is no longer planning to support Donald Trump as he campaigns for a second term.

Why Kanye is No Longer Supporting Donald Trump as a Presidential Candidate

“I am taking off the red hat, with this interview,” the celeb told Forbes in a recent interview. West revealed that his Twitter announcement was not a hoax and that he fully plans to run on the presidential ticket for the 2020 election. Though time is running short to file the proper paperwork, Kanye states that he could likely push to get placed on the ballot post-deadline citing “Coronavirus issues” would weigh heavily in his favor.

West went public with his intent to run on July 4th in a Twitter post. The tweet has since been retweeted more than 530,000 times and received over a million likes.

The twitter proclamation featured #2020Vision and support quickly rallied around him both from adoring fans and other celebrities including wife, Kim Kardashian, and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. The famous Tesla founder responded to the controversial Tweet throwing his full support behind West.

The decision to pull his own support of Trump comes as a shock to most. Kanye West has been one of Trump’s most outspoken celebrity supporters since the beginning of his presidential career. In fact, Forbes reports that just weeks ago, West was ending text messages with “Trump 2020” paired with a raised fist symbol. While the entertainer did not go into great detail about what turned him against voting for Trump, “Ye” says that he has lost his confidence in the President-elect. He says, “It looks like one big mess to me. I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.”

While its a little uncertain if he’s referencing Trump’s current campaign state or the choices that he has made politically over the last few months, it’s clear that he has decided that Trump might not be the one to “Make America Great Again.”

Kanye West says ‘Joe Biden is Not Special’

After revealing that he has lost confidence in Trump, West did not go much further into his feelings on the President-elect. He did not take the interview as an opportunity to criticize Donald Trump as one would assume he would. Instead, he took the opportunity to tell the world how he feels about 2020 Democratic Candidate, Joe Biden. He says, “Joe Biden? Like come on man, please. You know? Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Biden’s not special.”

It’s a ‘Birthday Party’

As of now, Donald Trump will be running on the Republican Party ballot. On the Democratic ticket stands presumed candidate Joe Biden. So, where does that leave West? He says that if Trump decides not to run, he will run as Republican and that if Trump is still in the picture he will run as Independent. Forbes says that he plans to run under what he dubs “the Birthday Party.” West says, “Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.”

Only time will tell if Kanye West’s aspirations of 2020 Presidential victory will come to fruition. Some think West still supports Trump and is running as a joke to throw more votes his way. While the celeb’s confidence is at an all-time high, he admits 2020 may not be his year. He says, “Let’s see if the appointing is at 2020 or if it’s 2024—because God appoints the president. If I win in 2020 then it was God’s appointment. If I win in 2024 then that was God’s appointment.”
