Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave recently had a scare when her seven and a half year old daughter Slate cut the tip off of her finger. She talked about it on her podcast, Teddi Tea Pod. She said after going to take the trash out, Slate had followed her and the door slammed on her finger.

Her daughter was quiet and so she didn’t know there was anything wrong. Teddi said, “I walked back into the house and she was just sitting there silent and I’m like, ‘What’s up?’ She didn’t cry or anything, so I thought the door slammed, that she had already gotten in. And she was like, ‘Mom,’ and then I saw her finger on the floor.”

Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave Learned What Not To Do

Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave said she put the finger on ice because that’s what she’d seen in movies and heard about amputated digits. The 911 operator told her it kills the nerves making it more difficult to reattach.

Teddi said the ambulance came to get her daughter and doctors reattached the end of her finger. The plan was to get it to heal, but after three weeks it wasn’t working according to People. At that point she had to deal with skin-graft surgery. Slate has just now started to use her right hand again after weeks in a cast.

Arroyave said, “it really shows how strong our kids are and how positive they are … it’s so incredible how much kids pick up from you and how much they know.”

The Mother Of Three Felt Extremely Guilty

Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave said she couldn’t help but feel guilty. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star said, “it one point, she looked at me and she was like, ‘Hey Mom, just so you know, this wasn’t your fault,’ And I was like, ‘Well, I feel like it was my fault. I should’ve told you before I took the trash out not to follow. And I know the door is heavy’ and all of these things, and she was just like, ‘Mom, I’m gonna be fine.'” Her daughter was reportedly handling it better than she was.

Teddi who is mother to Dove who is four months old and five year old Cruz said, “It has been a really brutal six weeks with surgeries and healing and we’re finally at the tail end of it, and she’s learning how to reuse her right hand.” She said she’d learned a lot from her seven year old and how she’d handled the whole thing. She said she was really proud of her. RHOBH will resume airing this month and there’s sure to be a lot more drama for the ladies with diamonds.
