Kristen Doute called out cancel culture. The former Vanderpump Rules star broke her silence on social media this weekend. She addressed the cancel culture movement. The ex-book author shared a clip that featured The Good Place star Jameela Jamil talking about the movement. The actress shared an old interview of herself on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on her Instagram Stories on Saturday, June 27.

It’s an interesting choice considering Bravo fired both Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder for their past racist comments. They lost their television gigs after their former co-star Faith Stowers accused them of racially profiling her for a crime she did not commit. Following the firings, Vanderpump Rules fans demanded the network to remove Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Lala Kent.

Per The Blast, Kristen Doute took to her Instagram to call out cancel culture. In case you didn’t know, cancel culture is a movement that calls for the removal of support of public figures and companies over their offensive remarks and comments. Kristen shared an interview in which Jameela Jamil revealed the dangers behind this movement.

“The thing that we are sometimes searching for in our society is moral purity and we are just never going to find that,” Jameela told host Trevor Noah. “All you can find is progress and not perfection and so that’s what we should all be striving towards.”

“Had I been ‘canceled’ at that time I would never have gone to become someone who spends all of their life fighting for women’s rights and rights of people who are marginalized and who is now being able to get Instagram and Facebook to change their global policy to protect young people,” Jameela added.

Kristen seems to support Jameela’s message. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Bravo fired Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder after Faith Stowers recalled a 2018 event where the ladies racially profiled her. The interview went viral and fans immediately canceled the reality stars. They also demanded that Bravo removed them from the show. The network listened to the fans and while both women apologized, they lost their spots on Vanderpump Rules.

VPR fans split over Bravo firings

Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder remained silent on their firings. While Kristen didn’t directly speak out about the controversy, she made a point that she made a mistake. Since then, an online petition went viral, asking the network to change its minds, as per Deadline. The petition received over 20,000 signatures and the numbers continue to grow each day.

But Bravo fans aren’t satisfied with Kristen and Stassi’s firing. They also want the network to fire Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Lala Kent. Other fans feel they should cancel the show altogether. Kristen and Stassi immediately hired a crisis management team since the incident. Their representative Steve Honig revealed in a statement to several outlets that they know “what they did was wrong” and want to “move forward.”
