Fans are anxiously waiting to see Clare Crawley take on the role of the lead in The Bachelorette. At thirty-nine she’s going to bring an older perspective to the role. Recently she went onto the Bachelor Happy Hour to talk about both her new role and her past.

Clare famously told Juan Pablo Galavis off at the end of his season in 2014. She said, “it just broke me down, I hear it in my voice the whole time of just trying to be strong. Trying to be empowered, but then at the very end, having enough in me to be like, ‘You know what? No. That’s not OK.'”

She went on to say she decided she wasn’t going to be treated that way. After she did it though she said she had to convince herself she’d really been disrespected.

Being On BIP And Winter Games Prepared Clare Crawley

After Clare Crawley was on The Bachelor she went on to be on Bachelor in Paradise and Bachelor Winter Games. Those two experiences helped her prepare for her new role, according to ET.

She said, “I grew up having no self-confidence. And, because of a lot of things that happened in my life, not believing in myself, not feeling worthy of a lot of stuff.”

Crawley said now after growing through all of it she’s an empowered woman now. Clare said, “even when I’m weak, I still have the courage within myself to do hard things, and it’s something I’m proud of now.”

She Revealed She’d Been In An Abusive Relationship

Clare Crawley revealed on the podcast that before The Bachelor she’d had a rough time. She stated she didn’t tell a lot of people about it. Crawley said, “Some of my family knew about it. I had just gone through a really, really abusive relationship going into Juan Pablo’s season.”

She said she lived in her car and barely made minimum wage as assistant to a hair stylist. She said also, “I was in an abusive relationship. I just had lost my dad too. So I was at the lowest of lows.” Clare said enduring those hardships gave her a lot of strength. She said, “I looked not at the stuff I’ve been through as shame, but as my superpower. These are the things that have made the woman that I am today.” She’s very excited for her upcoming journey. She thinks the strength she’s gained will help her pick the right man.

“I want the man of my dreams to see the worst of me, and to know the worst of me,” she said. “I want them to know the hard, ugly, embarrassing struggles of my life to appreciate the woman that I am today.”

While waiting, Crawley spent time googling the men scheduled for her season. Fans will have to wait for an announcement to find out when production will resume.
