Garrett Yrigoyen seems to be laughing off the trouble his post about supporting police officers stirred up. While his lady love is reporting she doesn’t know what their future holds, because of the drama, Garrett is cracking jokes.

The post he made referenced the Thin Blue Line. He said, “we can’t judge the peaceful protesters by the actions of the few violent protesters, and we sure can’t judge all cops by the actions of a few bad ones.” This is something a lot of people have shared since the protesting started and a spotlight was placed on systematic racism.

Outspoken Bachelorette alum Rachel Lindsay was one voice of many for criticizing him for posting this because he’d recently posted in support of the BLM movement.

What Joke Did Garrett Yrigoyen Make About The Situation?

Garrett Yrigoyen posted on his Instagram a quote he felt got his feeling across. The former Bachelorette star said, “I just got off the phone with Mother T. She wanted me to share this one with you all today… ‘People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. FORGIVE THEM ANYWAY. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. BE KIND ANYWAY. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. SUCCEED ANYWAY.’”

He kept going with Mother Teresa’s words saying to be honest even though people deceive you. “The good you do today, will often be forgotten. DO GOOD ANYWAY. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. GIVE YOUR BEST ANYWAY. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.’ – Mother Theresa.”

Becca Kufrin Supported Her Fiancé Initially

According to US Weekly Garett Yrigoyen’s fiancé addressed his comments with Rachel Lindsay. The two host the podcast Bachelor Happy Hour together. At first she defended him, because she didn’t agree but he wasn’t being malicious. “Garrett is my fiancé and I love him and to his core, I believe that he is a good person. I do think it was tone deaf and it was the wrong time and message and sentiment.” She said she was trying to get him to see the big picture.

On the podcast the following week, she told listeners she wasn’t sure where her relationship with Garrett stood, because of their difference in opinions. Garrett has received a lot of positive feedback from fans. They support him and a lot of them thanked him for standing up for what he believed in. One fan said, “this is why you’re one of my favs in Bachelor nation you’re not scared of not fitting in with what is going on just to feel accepted you are you.” Fans will continue to watch to see if one of their favorite Bachelor couples can fix their relationship.
