90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way stars Jenny and Sumit have had their problems. This includes the fact Sumit hadn’t told Jenny he was married to an Indian woman. Then there is an age gap, with Jenny being 61 and Sumit only 32. Haters being haters, people have criticized the pair on social media. Jenny decided to clap back at their haters in a press conference.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way stars Jenny and Sumit’s journey
By their very nature, Jenny and Sumit became fan favorites on Season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Now, they are back for Season 2 of the TLC reality show. Jenny met Sumit on Facebook and eventually, she fell in love with him. Admittedly, Sumit initially catfished the American woman by using a stock photo as his profile image. Despite this, Jenny accepted what he really looked like.
Jenny sold up her belongings in Palm Springs, California, to move to India to be with Sumit. What was supposed to be the start of their lives together came to a screeching halt when she learned he was already married. Sumit had neglected to tell Jenny he was in an arranged marriage. Shocked by the news, Jenny went home to Palm Springs. As she had sold her home, she moved in with her daughter.
Jenny and Sumit trying again in Season 2
As noted by ET, Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way premiered on Monday this week. Jenny and Sumit are back on the show. On Sumit’s side, he has started divorce proceedings from his arranged marriage. As for Jenny, she is planning to move back to India. While all this sounds at least hopeful, there are still issues for the couple. Neither Sumit’s parents nor his friends approve their relationship.
The premiere episode saw Sumit talking with his friends. They are worried about the age gap between him and Jenny. Basically she is old enough to be his mother, and this means they won’t be able to have children together. Sumit doesn’t mind not having a family. However, his friends tell him he is turning his back on his Indian culture. Sumit replies to them, saying he isn’t turning his back, but is, instead, “avoiding haters.”
90 Day Fiancé star Jenny gives a press conference
On Wednesday, Jenny spoke in a virtual press conference, where she mentioned a memorable scene in the premiere. She says, despite everything, she and Sumit love each other. Jenny says it is going to happen, regardless of what her critics think. The TLC reality star explained how difficult it is for them. She says they “just love each other.”
The pair don’t pay any attention to those around them. Jenny says it doesn’t matter and of course, there are haters. She says she just wants people to understand they love each other, despite their age difference. Jenny stressed their different cultures and backgrounds – Indian and American – don’t matter either.
The TLC star says they are in their own little bubble. She and Sumit don’t pay attention to the critics and Jenny says there are a lot of them.
Jenny knew her relationship with Sumit wasn’t over
Jenny explains that she came back for Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé because their relationship isn’t over. She understands why Sumit didn’t tell her of his arranged marriage. Jenny says she understands his culture and loves him just the same and has forgiven him.
The other cast members on Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way are all in interracial relationships. Jenny said in the press conference that she had never considered Sumit’s race when she began dating him. In fact, she mentioned that her ex-husband and father of their daughter Tina is black. Jenny says she just sees the person she is in love with. She doesn’t see their skin color or race. It is all about the person. Whatever other people may think, the love is there and that’s it.
Jenny also explained that other countries besides America are great. She says there are “beautiful countries, beautiful people, a lot of beautiful things going on in other countries aside from America.
