‘Days Of Our Lives’ Summer Preview: Four Weddings In July, Shocking Returns
Days Of Our Lives is turning up the heat by dropping their summer promo earlier this week. Stories that are currently airing are just sowing the seeds for drama over the summer.
The soap promises all-new episodes throughout the summer, unlike the other soaps that are out of fresh episodes. GH, B&B, and Y&R are all dipping into their archives for classic episodes to air in place of new episodes.
TV Shows Ace reports that B&B is hopeful they’ll start filming again next month. Meanwhile, DOOL promises four weddings and a shocking death in Salem this summer.
Claire is Released From the Looney Bin
Olivia Rose Keegan returns to DOOL when Claire is released early from Bayview mental hospital. She convinces Marlena (Diedre Hall) that she’s well enough to come home.
Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle (Martha Madison) return to Salem to help their daughter get situated. Is Claire really better or did she pull a fast one on her family?
Allie Horton Returns to Salem on DOOL
In the promo video, a young woman with long, blonde hair is seen hugging DOOL characters Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Freddie Smith.) There is also a shot of her cradling her baby bump and going into labor with Nicole (Arianne Zucker) by her side.
Sources indicate that the young woman is none other than a SORASed Allie Horton, daughter of Sami (Allison Sweeney) and Lucas (Bryan Dattilo.) The name of the actress playing the role has yet to be revealed.
However, she clearly shakes things up on Days of Our Lives, causing trouble between Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole. Allison Sweeney returns to Salem and crashes her brother’s wedding to Nicole. Rivals Sami and Nicole have a catfight in the wedding cake, as the promo teases.
Lucas also returns to town, shocked by something his mother, Kate (Lauren Koslow,) tells him. There’s no word on if Allie’s twin brother Johnny will be in Salem this summer. As longtime DOOL fans know, the twins have different dads. EJ (last played by James Scott) is Johnny’s father.
More Shocking Returns
Allison Sweeney’s triumphant return to her long-played character of Sami Brady isn’t the only surprise DOOL has in store this summer. As long-rumored, Louise Sorel returns to Salem in her iconic role as Vivian Alamain. One Life To Live actress Robin Strasser briefly took on the role of Vivian last year.
In the promo, Vivian seemingly confronts Jake (Brandon Barash) about looking just like her supposedly dead son, Stefan DiMera. Online speculation suggests that Jake is actually Stefan and he’s in cahoots with Vivian to wreak havoc in Salem.
Another familiar face in the promo is actor Jay Kenneth Johnson reprising his role as Philip Kiriakis. Victor (John Aniston) appears happy to see his grandson, but Xander (Paul Telfer) looks less enthused.

DOOL teases four weddings in the promo: Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Justin (Wally Kurth.) Nicole and Eric, Lani (Sal Stowers and Eli (Lamon Archey.) And finally, Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara (Victoria Konefal.)
