Bethenny Frankel Opens Up About Her Near-Death Experience In 2018
Bethenny Frankel appears tough as nails. But the Real Housewives of New York alum deals with health problems just like everyone else. The reality star shared the details of her near-death experience back in December 2018. She wants to remind people about the seriousness of food allergies.
During a trip, she unknowingly ate soup with fish in it. Bethenny previously revealed on the Bravo reality series that she has a fatal allergic reaction when she ingests most types of fish. On Wednesday, May 13, Bethenny Frankel took to Instagram to commemorate National Food Allergy Awareness Week, which started on Sunday, May 10. She used the hashtags #NationalFoodAllergyAwarenessWeek and #CoronavirusPandemic to remind herself and other fans about “how precious life is and how important it is to not take this life for granted,” as per Us Weekly. Bethenny shared a photo of herself with boyfriend Paul Bernon and her 10-year-old daughter, Brynn.
“When I had a life threatening allergic reaction, @pbernon and @newtonwellesleyhospital saved my life,” Bethenny wrote. “I owe them my life, and I’m so grateful to be here now for my family.”

The entrepreneur advised her followers to take both allergic reactions and the coronavirus pandemic seriously. To help with the ongoing pandemic, Bethenny previously donated one million hazmat suits to New York City.
The “life-threatening” incident that Bethenny mentioned in her Instagram post took place over two years ago when she unknowingly ingested soup with fish in it. As per the Us Weekly report, Bethenny’s symptoms included high blood pressure, itchiness, and unconsciousness. She recalled that she couldn’t talk or see. The 49-year-old thought she was having a stroke.
She also credited her 42-year-old boyfriend. “He saved my life,” she declared of the real estate developer during that time. Since that scary incident, Bethenny survived two close calls while traveling. Back in January 2019, her plane had to turn around after she was served fish on board. A few months later, she learned that fish was included as part of her in-flight meal despite informing the airline about her fatal allergy.

The reality star doesn’t usually share pictures of her daughter on social media. Like most moms, she’s protective of her. But for Bryn’s 10th birthday, Bethenny shared a rare photo on Instagram. As per Today, the Skinnygirl founder shared a series of birthday photos, including one of Bryn in a straw hat and smiling at the camera.
The gallery of photos also showed Bryn jumping next to a pile of gifts on the floor. The mother-daughter pair also embraced each other in matching pajamas. Another photo shows Bethenny and Bryn hanging out inside a toy teepee.
