Michelle Duggar talks about first Mother’s Day without Grandma Mary

In a social media post, Michelle opens up about the loss of her mother. She also talks about how Grandma Mary became like a mother to her. Everyone in the family had a special bond with Grandma Mary. This Mother’s Day is a hard one for the family because they lost their grandmother in early June 2019. So, this is their first Mother’s Day without her here. Michelle talks about missing her dearly.

Duggar kids celebrate Mother’s Day

On social media, several of the adult kids shared about Mother’s Day. It’s obvious that it’s a very special day for them. Jedidiah Duggar shared a photo of himself with his mom. Jedidiah left a heartfelt message for his mom too. At the end of his caption, he writes, “I’m so blessed to be your son!

Abbie, John-David’s wife, celebrated her first Mother’s Day with their baby Gracie. The mom took the opportunity to share a couple of sweet photos of herself and her daughter. In her caption, she writes about how she always wanted to be a mom. She says that her “dreams have come true.”

Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo both shared lengthy posts about Mother’s Day. Jinger talks about the privilege she has to be a mother. She shares an adorable picture of herself and Felicity. It’s been a strange time for mothers, hasn’t it? With work and school cancelled, a lot of your normal routines have been sidelined. I know that’s not always easy. We’ve all had to adjust, to one degree or another. But can we just take a moment to sit back and reflect on the privilege of being a mother? It’s challenging, but what in life is worth doing that isn’t? Sure, some days are filled with frustrations and tears, but others seem like nonstop laughter! And through all of it, there’s joy in the journey. As I celebrate mothers today, I can’t help but think of the amazing mother God gave to me. What would my life have been like, if not for the tireless effort and endless hours she invested? My heart is filled with gratitude. Thank you, Mom. I love you!💗

Being a mom isn’t easy. Starting at the moment of her child’s conception, the care, compassion, and protection begins. In a recent interview, Drew Barrymore said of motherhood during the pandemic, “I don't know if there are good days and bad days. I think there are good hours and bad hours. I cried every day, all day long.” Can you relate, moms? She concluded, “It was the messiest plate I've ever held in my life to be the teacher, the parent, the disciplinarian, the caretaker.” Take it from Barrymore, a wildly successful actor, producer, director, author, model, and entrepreneur: motherhood is no walk-in-the-park. And over the last three years, I’ve gotten a front row seat watching Jinger on her motherhood journey. What’s it been like? Well, have you ever thought, when watching an Olympic gymnast slide across the balance beam, “I could do that! How hard could it be?” and then you try it and fall on your face? Yeah, it’s been kind of like that. She makes motherhood look so easy, so natural, so graceful. Every day, Felicity is tenderly loved, guided, protected, and nurtured. From my vantage point, I see Jinger gliding across the balance beam, somersaulting into back handstands and cartwheels. But I can forget, just like when watching that Olympic gymnast stick her 10/10 landing, the blood, sweat, tears—the selfless dedication—that make it possible. Being a mom isn’t easy. But to my daughter’s mother, to my mother, to my wife’s mother, to all mothers: thank you for not taking the easy-road. Happy Mother’s Day!

Jessa Seewald shared a cute picture of her mom, Michelle, with her nearly one-year-old daughter, Ivy. She talks about how sweet it is to see her mom with her children. She also mentions how great of a childhood she had.

Jessa adds, “I pray for God to give me more of those same qualities in my own mothering.” It sounds like Jessa truly looks up to her mother and loves the parenting advice she’s gained from her over the years.

Cousin Amy King shares about her first Mother’s Day

Though she doesn’t like to be referred to as a Duggar, she’s still a part of the Duggar family. Jim Bob’s niece Amy King celebrated her first Mother’s Day. Her son Daxton is seven months old. In those seven months, it seems like Amy has learned a lot. She also writes a sweet message to her own mother, Jim Bob’s sister. She mentions Grandma Mary too. Amy was very close to Grandma Mary and took the loss particularly hard.

Our first one together. The best role I'll ever get. I'm still learning how to juggle it all but it has been the most amazing chapter in my life! It's beautiful, exhausting, messy & hard at times. But so rewarding and life changing! You take up all my time and I love it! I haven't had a full 8 hours of sleep since October 🤪 but.. I wouldn't want it any other way! You have changed me in so many ways and I love being your Mama! I'm so blessed that God chose me to carry you, to love you and protect you. You will always be safe in my arms, you are so unbelievably loved Daxton Ryan 💙 Happy Mothers Day to all the strong , amazing beautiful selfless mom's out there who love day in and day out without compromise, who skips showers because she's too tired, who doesn't usually get a hot meal and who doesn't have REM sleep because she hears every single noise!! I'm right there with you!! To my mom: Thank you for giving me life! I love you!! Also::: You're a real mom no matter how you deliver or how you feed your baby. You're a real mom if you adopt, or if you are a motherly figure! I know some pretty amazing foster mommies too! I see the mom who has lost a child..I am sending you a huge hug today. To the single mama's you are so strong. I have a deep respect for you! Praying for those who have lost their mother's. I know it's hard . It's the first Mother's Day without Gma ( who helped raise me) even though I'm tickled pink to be celebrating with my little family.. a part of me will always miss our cookouts by the pool on this day… but what a reunion in the clouds it will be! I hope you know how special all of you are. Every mom is a superhero. Be blessed today & treasure the moments!

Even though not every Duggar shared a post to social media on Sunday, it’s likely that they had a wonderful day celebrating. As social distancing guidelines ease up, more families are able to get together.
