‘Teen Mom OG’ Maci Bookout’s Dynamic Relationship With Ex Ryan Edwards’ Parents
Things may have always been up and down with Teen Mom OG Maci Bookout McKinney and her ex, Ryan Edwards. However, InTouch Weekly reports that her relationship with his parents is “really strong”.
Why Maci Co-Parents with Ryan’s Parents
Maci and Ryan are parents to Bentley, 11. The parents met when Maci (28) was 15 and Ryan (33) was 20. Maci’s pregnancy was filmed as part of MTV’s Sixteen and Pregnant. Now MTV follows her and her family for Teen Mom OG. Ultimately, the pair parted ways. Maci is now married to Taylor McKinney. Ryan is married to Mackenzie Standifer.
As many fans know, Ryan struggles with substance abuse. As previously reported by InTouch Weekly Ryan has gone to rehab. After visiting him in rehab Mackenzie shares details with her producer. “He said that he was using three times a day,” she says. Mackenzie’s also accused Ryan of “[taking] Xanax again.” There is also fan speculation of heroin usage as fans believe they see track marks on Ryan’s arms.
Maci chooses not to discuss Ryan’s sobriety with his parents, Larry and Jen Edwards. Due to concerns about Ryan’s sobriety,his parent’s co-parent Bentley. The Teen Mom OG says that they have a “really strong” co-parenting relationship. MTV’s been along for some of their heated conversations, but ultimately the Teen Mom OG trusts Bentley’s grandparents to do what’s best for him.

“We have a really good relationship,” Maci says. “I’ve always co-parented with them. … Even though the tough times and the hard times, they’ve always supported me, and we’ve maintained a really strong relationship and bond with each other,” she explains.
Bentley Has Big Dreams
In the spirit of doing what’s in Bentley’s best interests, Maci and Taylor recently spoke about sending him to private school. Maci previously made arrangements with Bentley that if he raised his grades, they would talk about enrolling him in private school. According to InTouch Weekly Bentley wants to go to a local private school so that he can participate in a top wrestling program. Additionally, Taylor brought up that Bentley’s “core group” of friends that he wrestles with all go to the private school.

Bentley put in the work to improve his test scores and grades. The high cost of tuition puts Maci aback. She says, “It’s just ridiculous to me. Who wants to pay $12,000? Not me.” Taylor reminds her that the Edwards would help them cover the expenses. Maci elaborates, “I think they’ve told him that too, but if you’re asking me if I’m going to bring that up? Absolutely not.”
Reluctantly, Maci says on an episode of Teen Mom OG, “I’m still not sure about it, but since Bentley really wants it, I’ll support his dream.” Ultimately, Bentley tests for the private school and does remarkably well. With a laugh, Maci says, “If we’re not wanting to do something, we should never test him because prevail.”
