‘Live PD’ Has Plans To Take Over The A&E Network: New Details

Live PD Nation is in for a treat. The A&E network plans to keep the true crime series around for a long time. According to a new report via Deadline, the network wants to expand on the Live PD series.

Live PD got a bump in total number of episodes to over 450. Also, the three-hour live show will celebrate its 300th episode coming this summer. This comes after the news that the series is set to return this weekend to its original three-hour format. Read on to learn more about the network’s plans to expand on the show.

A&E orders 160 more episodes of hit police series

According to the report, A&E ordered 160 more episodes of Live PD. This bumps the show up to over 450 episodes. And fans will be happy to hear this news. It’s become one of the top-rated shows on cable television. The docuseries follows law enforcement officers from various police departments across the nation.

The series airs on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET. However, the show was cut down to 2 hours each night, amid the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, host Dan Abrams and analysts Sean “Sticks” Larkins and Tom Morris Jr. had to film the show via satellite from home.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, A&E plans to announce new programs for the upcoming year. Most television show pilots were shut down due to the pandemic. This led many networks to scramble over their upcoming summer and fall programming schedules.

Deadline wasn’t the only source to make the announcement. On Thursday, May 7, Sticks took to Twitter to share the announcement with Live PD Nation. The Tulsa police officer says he looks forward to spending more Fridays and Saturdays in the studio. He also thanked the viewers for their ongoing support.

Live PD will be back to 3 hours starting this Saturday

There’s even more great news for fans. On Wednesday, May 6, Dan Abrams announced that the series is back to its three-hour format, starting Saturday, May 9. On Friday night, Live PD will air its 2-hour format, followed by a new episode of Live PD: Wanted.

It also looks like all three men will return to the studio. The Live PD official Instagram account shared this clip of Dan and Sticks at the A&E studios. This comes as states relax their stay-at-home orders and businesses open up their doors.

Big Fish Entertainment produces Live PD. Dan Cesareo, Lucilla D’Agostino, and John Zito produce the series for Big Fish for A&E. The executive producers of the network are Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro, Sean Gottlieb, and Brad Abramson.
