Counting On star Jessa Duggar is finding ways to pass the time during the coronavirus stay-at-home orders. Many people right now find themselves at home cooking for their families. However, Jessa Duggar is no different than any other stay-at-home mom. The Counting On star recently shared her hearty chili recipe with her Instagram followers.
Jessa claims it’s so good that she’s made it three times already this week. The Counting On star says, “it’s so yummy, and easy to whip up.” she wrote, “Give it a try. It will not let you down.” Jessa shared her recipe on her YouTube channel. The recipe will serve six to eight people.
Jessa Duggar’s Chili Recipe
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 bulb of garlic (6 to 9 cloves), minced
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- 15 oz can red kidney beans
- 15 oz can pinto beans
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 28 oz can petite diced tomatoes
Jessa Duggar gave instructions to first saute the onion and garlic, next add the ground beef. Then stir in the diced green pepper, tomato sauce, and all the spices. Let this cook for one to two more minutes. Lastly, add the rest of the ingredients (don’t drain the beans or the tomatoes), bring it all to boil, reduce heat and let simmer for 20 minutes. Garnish with sour cream and cheese or toppings of your choice.
She assured her fans by commenting on Instagram that the chili wasn’t too spicy and that her kids love to eat it.
Jessa Shares Other Recipes
Jessa got good feedback regarding her chili recipe. Some fans gave suggestions on how to tweak the recipe. Some serve their chili over rice or combine with noodles to make the meal more hearty. However, a commenter on Instagram would substitute Beyond beef to make a vegetarian version of chili. More suggestions were to add chili seasoning, diced potatoes, corn, or use black beans instead of pinto or kidney beans. Above all, anyone can make their chili however they would like.
Jessa’s followers and her sister Jinger couldn’t wait to make her hearty chili recipe. The Counting On star has shared other recipes on her social media pages. Jessa’s other recipes include pancakes, a slow cooker pot roast, and a family favorite sugar cookies. Not everyone likes her recipes that Jessa and her sister share.
