The Young and the Restless star Elizabeth Hendrickson is now a mom! On Friday at 9:22am, she gave birth to her first child. The baby is a girl, as Elizabeth and her husband Rob Meder found out before her birth. The Y&R star spoke with PEOPLE exclusively and said, “We are thrilled to introduce our little Josephine James Meder to the world – she’s perfect in every way.”

The baby is healthy and weighs 6 lbs., 11 oz. She’s 20 inches long. She says that she “can’t stop looking at her.”

On Instagram, Elizabeth writes, “It was the most incredible birth thanks to my amazing midwife Didi and all of the nurses at UCLA Santa Monica. We couldn’t be more thankful for all of their hard work during a time like this.” It seems like everything went smoothly for Elizabeth and Josephine.

Elizabeth announced her pregnancy in October and said, “Our journey to getting pregnant has not been easy and I’m looking forward to talk about it more publicly, hear your stories, share experiences and learn as much I can from all of you. I’m finally going to be a Mother and I can’t wait for what’s to come!!!

With the coronavirus pandemic going on, there are changes for hospital births. Hospitals are restricting how many people can be in the delivery room. This is leading to expectant parents having to make difficult decisions, and birth plans are being thrown away. Some parents are deciding on home births last-minute. All of this is to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but it’s heartbreaking for a lot of parents.

Fortunately, Rob was able to be in the delivery room while the baby was born. In an Instagram post, Elizabeth revealed that he has since had to go home. She writes, “Rob is home resting, since he is not allowed to be with me postpartum. Hope you’re getting a good nights sleep babe bc it’s your last for a while 😬.

The Y&R star told PEOPLE, “When dreaming about the birth of your first child words like ‘social distancing’ and ‘shelter in place’ never seem to enter into the picture. Yet here we were. Over the past month we simply focused on the things that we could control and we reminded ourselves how lucky we were and stayed positive.”

Even though the baby was born during a scary time in the world, everything worked out. Hopefully, Elizabeth and Josephine will be able to join Rob at home shortly.
