Could Coronavirus Cause A Duggar Baby Boom?

Most people around the world are practicing social-distancing to slow the spread of coronavirus. Jokes have been going around that there will be a baby boom because of this. Lots of people are stuck at home with not much to do. So, maybe some of those people will end up getting pregnant. Derick Dillard, Jill’s husband, previously joked about this too. Now, it seems possible that multiple members of the Duggar family could get pregnant while practicing social-distancing. Will the coronavirus pandemic and social-distancing cause a baby boom?

Duggar baby boom of 2019

The family’s most recent baby boom happened in 2019. In 2019, four new babies were born. These include:

  • Ivy Jane, May 26 (Ben and Jessa Seewald)
  • Addison Renee, November 2 (Joe and Kendra Duggar)
  • Bella Milagro, November 8 (Josiah and Lauren Duggar)
  • Maryella Hope, November 27 (Josh and Anna Duggar)

Also during 2019, Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth lost a baby. Joy-Anna was 20 weeks pregnant when they went to find out the baby’s gender. At that time, no heartbeat could be found. They named the baby Annabell Elise. Joy-Anna was also due in November like several of her sisters-in-law.

To kick off 2020, John-David and Abbie Duggar welcomed their first baby to the world. Grace Annette was born on January 7, 2020. She’s the most recent addition to the family.

Joy-Anna Forsyth is pregnant

Joy-Anna recently revealed that she is expecting again after her loss. She’s due in August. She and her husband Austin will welcome a baby girl. Right now, they have a two-year-old son Gideon. The couple is excited about their baby girl on the way. Everything seems to be going well so far, and fans hope that Joy-Anna has a healthy pregnancy.

Which Duggars might get pregnant in 2020?

With so many babies born in 2019, this leaves few women who are likely ready to have another baby. They do tend to have their kids close in age, but three of the four babies were born late in 2019. As of right now, only one pregnancy has been announced. That doesn’t mean other women aren’t currently expecting.

For a while now, there’s been speculation that Jinger Vuolo will be the next to get pregnant. Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo have a 20-month-old daughter Felicity. They live in Los Angeles now and they are doing things a little bit differently from Jinger’s family. So, some fans have started thinking they may not have a large family. There have been hints that Jinger might be pregnant now. But, a formal announcement hasn’t come out.

As mentioned, Derick hinted that Jill might get pregnant while social-distancing. Of course, this could have been a joke. But, it’s worth noting that their sons are growing up. Israel will be five in April and Samuel will be three in July. So, there will be a pretty big age gap between Samuel and baby number three, if they decide to have more kids.

Joe and Kendra Duggar might be trying for another baby soon. It seems early because their daughter Addison is only almost five months old. But, their first son Garrett was less than a year and a half old when Addison was born. If they want to have their kids around a year apart in age, it’s likely that Kendra will be pregnant soon.

These families likely won’t be growing  yet

Ben and Jessa likely won’t have another baby yet. Ivy will only be one in May. So far, Jessa has had children in odd-numbered years. So, she may have another baby in 2021. Plus, Spurgeon and Henry are less than two years apart, and Jessa has said she doesn’t want her kids that close in age again.

Josh and Anna Duggar’s kids are each about two years apart as well. So, it will likely be another year before Anna is expecting. Josiah and Lauren Duggar also had a baby in November 2019. They only have one child right now, so it’s unclear how close in age their kids will be.

Might there be a Duggar baby boom?

Because there were so many Duggar babies born in 2019, there isn’t a great chance of there being a baby boom in late 2020 or any time in 2021. It’s assumed that many of the families won’t be ready to have more kids, especially since several babies were born in November 2019. It’s more likely that more babies will arrive in 2021 when the babies born in 2019 are almost two years old. And, at that point, the coronavirus hopefully won’t be to blame. It’s expected to last a couple more months in the United States, but no one knows for sure.

And, Duggar fans agree that the women will get pregnant when they’re ready, regardless of whether the country is practicing social-distancing. So, be on the lookout for more pregnancy announcements.

What do you think? Will the coronavirus lead to a baby boom? How about in the Duggar family? Share your thoughts below.
